Lone Star Conference Players of the Week - Sept.29

LSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Offensive
Jarrett Beal, Northeastern State, Jr., QB, Dallas , Texas

Beal was the spark that spurred a 24-point explosion that carried the RiverHawks to its first victory of the year with a 27-15 win over East Central. He carried the ball 15 times for 94 yards and two rushing scores.

LSC North Defensive
T. J. Shaw, Central Oklahoma, Jr., Safety, Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe

Shaw came up with two big interceptions in UCO's 21-20 overtime win over A&M-C. His first pick came in the first quarter at the UCO five-yard-line to stop a A&M-C drive and his second came late in the half when he intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards to the Lion 35 to set up UCO's tying touchdown. Shaw added two tackles and a broken up pass.

LSC North Special Teams
Nabil El-Amin, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., RB, Rochester, N.Y./SUNY-Alfred

After giving up a 92-yard run that tied a Memorial Stadium record to UCO, the A&M-C junior running back took the ensuing kickoff and went 97 yards for a touchdown. The return ties a Memorial Stadium record, equaling the mark that was set by Danieal Manning from ACU on November 1, 2003.

Co-LSC South Offensive
Devin Guinn, Tarleton State, So., WR, Cedar HIll, Texas/Cedar Hill

Guinn caught seven passes for 146 yards Saturday as the Texans improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1990. The Texan sophomore caught the first pass of the game on a reverse pass from running back Travis Evans for a 69-yard touchdown score. He also caught two other touchdown passes, both from seven yards out, to help the Texans to the 43-19 victory.

Jerale Badon, Abilene Christian , Sr., Wide Receiver, Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS
Early in ACU's 45-20 win over ENMU on Saturday night, Badon passed former East Texas State receiver Gary Compton as the LSC's all-time leader in receptions with 182. ... Against ENMU, Badon had six catches for 107 yards...Compton caught 181 passes from 1987-90, but Badon passed him on ACU's second drive of the game on a 36-yard catch from Billy Malone to give him 182 career catches. ... Badon finished the night with 186 career catches for 2,661 yards and 15 touchdowns. ... Badon is now just 381 yards from passing Compton as the LSC's all-time leader in receiving yards. ... Compton finished his career with 3,041 yards.

LSC South Defensive
Cody Stutts, Abilene Christian, Sr., Middle Linebacker, Mesquite, Texas/Mesquite HS

Stutts spearheaded an ACU defense that helped the Wildcats beat previously unbeaten ENMU, 45-20... Stutts finished with 10 tackles (seven solo) and helped hold the Greyhounds 63 yards below their per-game rushing average and quarterback Michael Benton almost 40 yards below his per-game average. ... ENMU entered the game with the nation's No. 1 rushing offense (403 yards per game) and No. 1 rusher in the nation in Benton (187.8 ypg). ... The Greyhounds, though, only had 135 yards on the ground with five minutes left in the third quarter and ACU led 31-14 on its way to a dominating victory. ... The majority of ENMU's yards came late in the fourth quarter when ACU was ahead by 45-14 and the defensive backups were in the game. ... Stutts and the staring defense forced five three-and-outs by the Greyhounds, and in one stretch from the late second quarter to the early third quarter held the Greyhounds to possessions that netted minus-1 yard, zero yards, minus-13 yards.

LSC South Special Teams
Ben White, Midwestern State, Jr., Punter, Carrollton, Texas/Creekview HS

White nailed the coffin corner three times in MSU's 44-16 win at ASU as the junior punter had each of his three punts downed inside the 10-yard line. White, who averaged 41.7 yards on his three punts against ASU, has now down 11 of his 16 punts (68.8 percent) killed inside the 20 for the season with only one touchback.
