Greyhound Baseball Search Narrowed to Three Head Coach Candidates
PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University Athletic Director, Dr. Jeff Geiser has announced the three finalists for the position of Greyhound baseball coach. Jimmy Webster, Chris Terry and Mike Silva bring a strong amount of experience to the table in the search for a new coach after Phil Clabaugh announced his retirement last month.
Webster spent eight years at Coronado High School in nearby Lubbock, Texas, as the head baseball coach and an assistant coach for the Mustangs, and served as the Director of Baseball Operations at Texas Tech during the 2010-11 academic year. While at CHS, he was selected as the District Coach of the Year six times, Avalanche Journal South Plains Coach of the Year twice and Avalanche Journal City Coach of the Year once. Webster has coached at a number of schools throughout the West Texas area (Lubbock HS, Devine HS and Floydada HS) and has guided teams to nine consecutive playoff berths, reaching the postseason in 11 of 19 years. In addition to being a three-time Greater West Texas All-Star Baseball Coach, he earned academic honors, which included two Teacher of the Month awards.
Terry has been the head coach at Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) since the 2007 season and has registered three seasons with at least 30 wins. In 2011, he guided the Wildcats to a 36-15 record, with a 24-4 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. For his efforts, Terry was selected as the HAAC Coach of the year, while the team received 11 all-conference honors. Ranked 23rd in the NAIA, CSC received a bid to the national championship tournament. Prior to his stint at Culver Stockton, Terry spent seven years at Sheldon High School in Sacramento, Calif.
Silva has spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Clarendon College, posting a pair of 30-win seasons, including a 38-17 mark during the 2010 season. From 2009-10, the Bulldogs boasted one of the top batting averages in the NJCAA, ranked as high as 15th in the country and boasted a number of All-Region IV selections. In 2008, he served as the assistant coach at CC and helped guide the squad to a 40-16 record and a spot in the regional finals. Silva also served a previous stint as an assistant at Clarendon and Bethany colleges, with national success at both institutions.

His 13 career saves are also second-most in a for a Cardinal pitcher.
