STEPHENVILLE (August 8, 2017) — There were 105 of them, dressed in purple and white, just like in years past. But the Tarleton State team that opened preseason camp Tuesday had a different look to it.
And no, it wasn’t just the shiny new turf at Memorial Stadium. Size, lots of it, have been added to the Texan team particularly on both front lines, with an offensive line that will very likely average 330 pounds or more.

McDonough is being given the chance to take the ever-so-popular WT air raid of the last decade and turn it into a grind-it-out ground and pound attack.
If successful, it could not only win the Buffs a lot of games over the next few years, but improve the stock of the 32-year-old’s well- known reputation.
“It’s an adjustment when guys see it on the field,” said McDonough, who was a three-year quarterback at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. “But in reality, offense is offense,” McDonough said. “The goal is to score points and win football games.
