Mustangs seal another last minute comeback victory
Sophomore running back Adrian Seales' 13-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds lifted 12th-ranked Midwestern State to a 21-16 win over Tarleton State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
MSU, which improved to 8-1 on the season and 7-1 in league play, can clinch at least a share of its fourth Lone Star Conference championship with win in the season finale against Eastern New Mexico next Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Mustangs won for a second-straight time in Stephenville and they did it the MSU way.
Senior quarterback Quade Coward engineered a game-winning drive which culminated with a winning score in the final minute for the fourth time this season.
The 5-play, 74-yard drive in 68 seconds washed away four turnovers as Coward worked his magic hitting Jaylen Mayo for 15 yards on a slant route and Statron Jones on a 29-yard bender before Tarleton's Basil Jackson was whistled for targeting to set the Mustangs up at the TSU 15-yard line...Complete Release
Lions take 58-21 win in weather-shortened contest at UT Permian Basin
After multiple weather delays, the No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce football team left Ratliff Stadium with a 58-21 win over UT Permian Basin on Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The Lions move to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the Lone Star Conference with the victory and will host Tarleton State at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, in the regular season finale.
The game was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m. but was delayed for nearly three hours thanks to storm systems in West Texas...Complete Release
Hogs Improve to 7-3 on Record Night
Talk about making the most of your drives. Despite trailing heading into the second half, Texas A&M-Kingsville (7-3, 5-3 LSC) scored on three of its four drives in the final 30 minutes en route to its fifth consecutive Lone Star Conference victory, 28-13, over Western New Mexico (3-7, 3-5 LSC) on Senior Night Saturday evening at Javelina Stadium.
The victory marked the most wins in a single season since 2010 and the longest win streak since 2010.
Myles Carr tossed three touchdowns in the victory, two to Stehly Reden. The duo set new single season program marks in passing touchdowns and touchdowns by a tight end with 26 and seven, respectively. The previous passing touchdown mark was 24 by Abel Gonzalez back in 2001. Carr finished 16-of-24 with 307 yards and Reden's two receptions for 74 yards were scores...Complete Release
After Lightning Delay, Gridiron Hounds Register Electrifying Performance in Home Finale
After more than two hours of lightning delays, the Eastern New Mexico football team forced turnovers on two of Oklahoma Panhandle's first three plays of Saturday's Lone Star Conference game.
Wyatt Strand was also electric, with 163 passing yards with three touchdowns, along with 91 rushing yards, to lead ENMU to a 53-10 win at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.
After the defense forced turnovers on two of OPSU's first three plays, the Hounds took the lead for good on a 23-yard run from Paul Terry. The Greyhounds found the end zone on four of their first six possessions...Complete Release
Rams Dominate in Road Win Over WT
The Angelo State football team battled the weather and West Texas A&M Saturday night in Canyon, coming out on top 28-6 in a game played with a steady rain throughout all four quarters.
For the Rams (4-6, 3-6 LSC), it was their first time to win back-to-back games against West Texas A&M (5-5, 4-4 LSC) in Canyon since doing so in the 2000 and 2002 seasons.
ASU was led by the performance of its defense, which allowed only 136 yards on the night and held the Buffs scoreless up until the last minute of the game. WT gained only 69 yards on the ground and just 67 through the air, earning its only score in the game with just 42 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. It was the fifth time this season that Angelo State has held its opponent under 100 rushing yards in a game and the fewest yards allowed by ASU since allowing only 147 to Texas A&M Commerce in 2003...Complete Release
