2018 Javelina National Signing Day 


KINGSVILLE, Texas - On Wednesday, Texas A&M-Kingsville football coach Daren Wilkinson announced 35 signees as the newest members of the Javelina football program.

"This is like the end of the year for us," said Wilkinson. "We're putting 2017 to bed and this is our class of 2018 and this is when you start with the next go-round. It's a sign of relief when you get this day done."

The Javelinas replenished the talent pool by adding 17 players on offense and 17 players on defense along with one specialist. The area that saw the greatest influx of youth was the defensive backfield, where the Hogs added 10 new players. Phil Sercia's offensive line figures to benefit from the addition of six recruits with the receiving and linebacker corps each added five players. With one exception, every signee hails from the Lone Star State.

"There are a lot of things that are great about this university and about this football program," said Wilkinson. "In the process that we go through, meeting these kids on campus, we're trying to see if they enjoy the things that make this place special and I think each one does."



Jared Arellano - Spring, Texas - Klein High School - Offensive Line

Arellano capped his career at Klein High School with a 2017 season that saw him earn a second-team all-district selection as well as a spot on the Academic All-State roster during his time with the Bearkats. Arellano is the son of Claudia and Joe Arellano and he comes to TAMUK intent on majoring in Kinesiology. 
 

Trejan Glasco - Pearland, Texas - Pearland High School - Cornerback

After spending his high school career with the Pearland Oilers, Trejan Glasco joins the Javelina defensive backfield. During his senior season, Glasco totaled six pass breakups and also blocked a field goal. The son of Kheresa Glasco, Trejan is set to major in Business during his time in Kingsville.
 

Heath Dunn - Poth, Texas - Poth High School - Tight End

Dunn is ready to start catching passes for the Javelinas after arriving from Poth High School. As a senior, he pulled down 22 receptions for 404 yards and found the end zone eight times. Those numbers earned him a spot on the all-district first-team and Dunn was also named to the academic all-state team.
 
Brandon Smith - San Antonio, Texas - Ronald Reagan High School - Offensive Line

Smith spent 2017 as a team captain for the Ronald Reagan Rattlers and was chosen as honorable mention all-area. He also picked up a second-team all-district selection after being selected to the all-district first team as a junior. He was also chosen as a San Antonio all-star. The son of Jason and Donna Smith, he is planning on majoring in Physics.
 
Matthew Banda - Deer Park, Texas - Deer Park HS - Safety

Banda is set to join TAMUK's defense after holding down the starting safety job for the Deer and being named team captian in 2017. In leading his team to a district title, the Deer Park native also
garnered a first-team all-district selection and a spot on the all-state academic list. A computer science major, Banda is the son of Michael and Michele Banda.
 
John Kennedy - Houston, Texas - Westfield High School - Offensive Line

As a member of the Westfield Mustangs, Kennedy's accolades include selections to the first-team all-district and second-team all-area squads. The son of Tina Kennedy, He intends to earn a degree in Criminal Justice.
 
Evan Simonis - Helotes, Texas - O'Connor High School - Offensive Line

Another addition to the crew of offensive line coach Phil Serchia, Simonis is fresh off helping the O'Connor Panthers to a 13-1 season. He will be studying Civil Engineering in Kingsville and is the son of Erik and Samantha Simonis.
 
Jalen Hughes - San Antonio, Texas - O'Connor High School - Wide Receiver

After starring for the Panthers at several different positions, Hughes travels to Kingsville looking to bolster the Javelina receiving corps. He was selected as a team captain at O'Connor and proceeded to put together a year that earned him the team's offensive player of the year award. In the classroom, he received an award for essay of the year. Jalen is the son of Antoinette and Brian Hughes and plans on majoring in Kinesiology.
 
Jared Campbell - San Antonio, Texas - Earl Warren High School - Wide Receiver

Another signee from the Alamo City, Campbell put together a senior season for the Warriors that consisted of 34 catches for 811 yards and 10 scores. He was chosen for the all-district first-team and was aslo and honorable mention all-area choice. Campbell also ran track at Earl Warren High School. At TAMUK, Campbell, the son of John and Michelle Campbell, will be double majoring in Business and Marketing.
 
Cameron Cauthen - Mont Belvieu, Texas - Barbers Hill, Texas - Quarterback

The first signal caller in Daren Wilkinson's 2018 class, Cauthen comes to TAMUK after earning first-team all-district honors and being award the title of all-area MVP. A finance major, Cauthen is the son of Kayla and Dennis Brock. 
 
De'Antoine Carter - Pearland, Texas - Pearland High School - Linebacker

Carter joins Kevin May's unit out of Pearland, where he was twice named all-district. Following a second-team all-district junior year, Carter upped his game as a senior and garnered a spot on the first-team all-district roster. He is the son of Leta Hill and Dequintell Carter and intends on majoring in Psychology.
 
Nicolas Milburn - Texas City, Texas - Texas City High School - Wide Receiver

The cousin of current Javelina Devin Millburn, Nicolas arrives after a career with Texas City that concluded with a spot on the on second-team all-district squad. The son of Pete and Tonya Milburn, Nicolas will be majoring in chemical engineering. 
 
Quynton Cole - Lufkin, Texas - Lufkin High School - Offensive Line

The Javelina offensive line continues to add depth with the addition of Cole, a highly decorated performer from Lufkin. He improved upon a second-team all-district junior campaign to pick up first-team all-district recognition as a senior. He was also given the MaxPreps Semper Fidelis Player of the Year Award and the Burlsworth Character Award. Cole plans on earning a degree in Management. He is the son of Michell Cole.
 
Kelan Roberts - Houston, Texas - C.E. King High School - Wide Receiver

A Marketing major, Roberts gained recognition the form of a second-team all-district selection. In the classroom, Roberts was an Honor Roll student. He is the son of Patricia Roberts.
 
Evan Oglesby - Katy, Texas - Katy High School - Running Back

Oglesby competed in football and track and field for the Tigers. He averaged almost eight yards-per-carry on the ground and was a member of the all-district second-team. The son of Candace and John Oglesby, Joshua will be majoring in Advertising. 
 
Keshon Rowe - Katy, Texas - Katy High School - Defensive Back

Another member of Katy's state championship team, Rowe snatched nine interceptions for the Tigers. That was good enough for him to pick up a spot on all-state second-team as a defensive back and he was also an all-state first-team return man. 
 
Jacob Lighter - Katy, Texas - Katy High School – Tight End

The third member of TAMUK's 2018 signing class from Katy, Lighter received District 19-6A all-conference honorable mention honors as a senior. Lighter is a criminal justice major, whose parents are Todd and Rose Lighter.
 
Karch Kaspar - Brazoria, Texas - West Columbia High School - Punter

Kaspar is the first punter in the 2018 class for coach Wilkinson. He spent time at Chris Sailer Kicking Camp, where he earned a four-and-a-half star ranking. In his senior season, Kaspar averaged 36 yards per punt, with his longest boot being a 63-yarder. The Brazoria native will be studying for a degree in General Business in Kingsville. His parents are Curtis and Deborah Kaspar.
 
Alec Gonzalez - Galena Park, Texas - Galena Park High School - Quarterback

A two-year team captain for the Yellowjackets, Gonzalez capped his career in Galena Park with a second-team all-district nod and was also a two-time academic all-state honoree. Gonzalez made his mark in Galena Park early on, being named newcomer of the year as sophomore, as he'll be attempting to do the same in Kingsville.

Zach Henry - Texas City, Texas - Texas City High School - Defensive Back

Henry crafted a career at Texas City that included three seasons on the all-district first-team. The son of Anthony Henry, Zach's intended major is Engineering.
 
Amos Coleman III - New Orleans, La. - Alief High School - Defensive Back

Coleman is the first player from outside the state of Texas to sign with the Javelinas and he'll be joining the defensive backfield of Ryan Rodriguez. The New Orleans native was unanimous first-team all-district choice at cornerback one year after collected a second-team all-district accolade.  Coleman will be majoring in Accounting.
 
Jaelon Rudolph - Houston, Texas - North Shore Senior High School - Defensive End

Rudolph is the first of three commits that won a 6A state championship at North Shore Senior High. He impressed the Javelina coaching staff during the program's summer camp and earned an opportunity in Kingsville despite missing his senior season with an injury. Latoya and Lance Rudolph are Jaelon's parents and he'll be majoring in Criminology.
 
Ismael Brown-Bryan - Houston, Texas - North Shore Senior High - Linebacker

Signee No. 2 from Coach Jon Kay's program, Brown-Bryan was also a member of North Shore's 2015 state championship team. In each of the last two seasons, he's been a vital part of squads that have won semi-regional championships. His accomplishments include being recognized as first-team all-district. The son of Michelle Brown and Andre Bryan, Ismael will be studying Engineering.
 
Thomas Davis - Houston, Texas - North Shore Senior High - Defensive Back

Last but not least from North Shore is Thomas Davis, who was not only a state champion with the Mustangs, but also star in track and field. In addition to being named an all-district kick returner. Twice, he was an all-state long jumper and he holds the state long jump record with a mark of 24'3". Thomas is the son of Teresa Davis and will be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
 
Ja'Darious White - Tomball, Texas - Klein Oak High School - Defensive Back

Another addition to Ryan Rodriguez's stable of defensive backs, White's time with the Panthers included a senior season that landed him on the all-district second-team.
 
Adam Elliott - Splendora, Texas - Splendora HS- Linebacker

The third linebacker of the day to join the Hogs, Elliott comes from a Splendora program coached by Marcus Schulz. His list of accolades include being named second-team all-district and all-county. He is the son of Susan Elliott and will be studying Kinesiology.
 
Jacoby Shelton - Manville, Texas - Dawson HS - Defensive Back

Shelton showed a nose for football and for the endzone while manning the defensive backfield for the Raiders. He took two interceptions back for touchdowns last season while also posting a time of 10.53 in the 100 meters and clocking in at 21.6 in the 200 meters.
 
Kaylon Henley - Houston, Texas - Elsik HS - Linebacker

Henley makes the journey to Kingsville intent on earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He brings with him a resume that includes a second-team all-district selection and he was also a three-time team captain at Elsik High. He is the son of Mary and Ronald Henley
 
Daryl French - Sinton, Texas - Sinton High School - Defensive Line

The son of Becky Powell, French twice earned the title of all-state defensive end and he's also been recognized as a first-team all-conference performer in Class 4A. The Sinton native will be majoring in Kinesiology. 
 
Zion Davis - Texas City, Texas - Texas City HS - Defensive Back

The third player to join the Javs after a career with the Texas City Stingarees, Davis's ledger includes a spot on the all-district first-team. 
 
Adam Tillmon - Pearland, Texas - Pearland HS - Wide Receiver

Coming to Kingsville to bolster an already strong receiving corps, Tillmon carries with him a second-team all-district honor that he earned as a senior. He will be studying to earn a degree in Business Management. 
 
Kei'dre Taylor - Houston, Texas - Sharpstown HS - Defensive Back

Taylor played on both sides of the ball for the Apollos and was chosen as an all-district player as both a defensive back and a running back. During his time in high school, he also earned the title of District Newcomer of the Year on defense. Taylor's major will be Business Management.
 
Derrick Bailey - Spring, Texas - Spring HS - Linebacker

Bailey is the fifth linebacker in Kingsville's class as the Javs look to replenish a talent pool that lost all four starters to graduation. Bailey, who was a first-team all-district performer a year ago. Will be one of the players expected to help the linebacking corps maintain its level of play.
 
Justin Stevenson - San Antonio, Texas - Taft HS - Running Back

Stevenson will look to contribute to what was one of the top rushing offenses in the Lone Star Conference a year ago. He rolled up 1,100 yards last season at Taft and piled up 11 touchdowns.
 
Dennis Wilburn - Houston, Texas - Nimitz High School - Offensive Line

Wilburn is another commit from the Houston area who will travels to Kingsville after a career at Nimitz High School. Wilburn excelled on the field, where he was honored with a first-team all-district selection, and in the classroom, where he earned spot on the honor roll.
