MWSUFootball delivers quality class of 42 on National Signing Day
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State coach Bill Maskill unveiled a talented 2018 recruiting class with a balance of size and speed following a furious day of activity Wednesday on National Signing Day.
The strong class of prospects includes 42 prep standouts who chose to continue their gridiron careers and suit up for the Maroon & Gold.
"This class has the ability to be one of the best we've assembled in my tenure," Maskill said. "We were able to add a few players late who add to an already solid group. I am particularly excited for the help coming on the defensive line. We are also able to add quality depth. How they contribute will depend on how they are willing to prepare and what kind of shape they are in mentally and physically going into the fall. We are very excited that we were able to address many needs with potential quality student-athletes."
The class includes 22 offensive position players including seven offensive linemen, seven wide receivers, five running backs, two tight ends and a quarterback, while 20 defensive position players fill out the class including five defensive ends, five linebackers, four cornerbacks, three interior linemen and three safeties.
Midwestern State finished its 18th consecutive winning season in 2017 completing its second undefeated run through the regular season. The Mustangs claimed their third Lone Star Conference championship advancing to the NCAA playoffs for the ninth time.
