Chase Bowers, DT, jr, 6-4, 260, Panama City, Fla. (Kilgore JC)
Recorded 14 tackles last season for the Rangers at the defensive tackle position…
Coaches say: “Chase will be wreaking havoc on the defensive line for the Texans in 2011. Out of high school Chase was a Florida Atlantic commit and has shown great athleticism on tape.”
Cameron Bridgewater, LB, jr, 6-1, 205, Channelview (Kilgore JC)
As a freshman, had 17 tackles at Kilgore Junior College before recording 75 tackles in 2010 as a sophomore, including three and a half sacks… Had one fumble recovery…
Coaches say: “Cameron will bring great energy and excitement to the Texan defense in the fall. With his speed, he has the ability to play sideline-to-sideline running a 4.4 40-yard dash. He will also have the ability to be an effective blitzer from the linebacker position.”
Brad Croak, WR, jr, 5-9, 175, Vidor (Navarro JC)
As a freshman, had three catches for 70 yards for an average of 23.3 yards per catch with a long of 43 yards… As a sophomore, had 23 catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns… Averaged 8.8 yards per game and had a long of 26 yards…
Coach says: “Brad and fellow teammates Joe Jones and Roddy Green played together for 2 seasons. Brad brings a tremendous amount of skill to our offensive side of the ball. While at Navarro, Brad played running back and slot receiver.”
Roddy Green, WR/QB, jr, 6-0, 200, Mart (Navarro JC)
As a freshman at Navarro, Green was 46-of-90 for 668 yards passing with eight touchdowns and three interceptions… Rushed 49 times for 278 yards with two touchdowns… During his sophomore season, Green was 102-of-183 in passing for 1,242 yards and 13 touchdowns… He threw seven interceptions… Rushed for 286 yards on 107 carries… Recorded six rushing touchdowns…

Ramonte Harris, CB, jr, 6-0, 185, Mansfield Summit (Kilgore JC/UTEP)
Played in 10 games for the Miners at Texas-El Paso… Recorded five solo and five assisted tackles for a total of 10 as a freshman… As a sophomore at Kilgore Junior College, had an interception he returned for eight yards… Had eight tackles and two passes defended…
Coaches say: “Ramonte started for the UTEP Miners as a true freshman at safety, but has the speed and athleticism to play corner as well. With Ramonte’s size and speed he can be dominant presence in the Texans backfield at any position.”
Henry Hunter, QB, jr, 6-0, 220, Sachse (James Madison)
Signed with Division I James Madison last spring, but did not play in 2010 for the Dukes… In high school, the two-year starter at quarterback was a first- team All-District 10 5A honoree… Completed 77-of-156 passes for 1,239 yards with eight touchdowns… Rushed for 686 yards on 164 attempts for 14 touchdowns… As a junior, was 108-of-203 for 1,678 yards and 14 touchdowns… Rushed for 630 yards on 135 attempts and had 10 touchdowns… Was named the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player in 2008 and 2009… Also played varsity basketball for three years and was on the A/B Honor Roll all four years...
Coaches say: “Henry was recruited by Head Coach Cary Fowler a year ago out of Sachse High School. Last year at this time, he signed with James Madison University. Henry will bring great leadership to the Tarleton football team. He is a dual-threat quarterback who can make tough throws and has the ability to move in the pocket and scramble when in trouble.”
Desmond Jackson, DB, jr, 6-0, 205, Seguin (Oklahoma)
Saw action in five games in 2009 as a member of the special teams… Had two tackles against Texas A&M… In 2008 as a redshirt freshman, was named to the All-Big 12 Academic Second Team… Played in nine games as a member of the special teams and was a reserve in the secondary… Registered a career-high three tackles against Tennessee-Chattanooga, and he broke up his first career pass against Washington… In high school, he recorded 86 tackles and three interceptions as a senior… Recorded eight receptions for 210 yards with one touchdown… Was selected to play in Offense-Defense Bowl in Florida… Was also chosen to play in the Austin Wrangler’s Lone Star Arena Football Classic and was selected for the Oil Bowl… Was voted first-team all-area… As a junior, he had seven interceptions with six taken back for touchdowns as a junior… Named an All-San Antonio selection as a junior… Ran a 4.5 40-yard dash and bench pressed 305 and squatted 425 pounds…

Dre Jones, DT, jr, 6-4, 300, El Paso Andress (Navarro JC)
Had half a sack last season for national champion Navarro during his sophomore season… Played at Tarleton as a freshman in 2009… Recorded seven solo and 22 assisted tackles for a total of 29… Had five tackles for minus-nine yards, including half a sack for minus-two yards… Played in 11 games and had a pass breakup, a pass defended and a blocked kick…
Coaches say: “Dre was a Four-Star Rivals player out of high school. Dre will be a dominant force for our defensive line this season and posses a never-quit attitude on the field. He is a transfer from the Junior College National Champions, Navarro Junior College.”
Joe Jones, DB, jr, 6-2, 210, Carthage (Navarro JC)
As a freshman, Jones recorded 13 tackles… Caught seven catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 17.0 yards per reception... In 2010, Jones had two interceptions for 64 yards, one of which he returned for a touchdown… Had 64 yards of total returns… In 2010, Jones had 36 tackles, two passes defended and three recovered fumbles as a sophomore…
Coaches say: “Joe is an athletic player who possesses great speed and skill and who plays with tremendous passion on defense. As a standout all-conference defensive back, Joe was one of the top-rated secondary players in the SWJCFC.”
Kelvin Tomlinson, DB, jr, 6-1, 190, Fort Worth Southwest (Lon Morris)
This was Lonn Morris’ first year to play football in 70 years… No stats available…
Coaches say: “Kelvin was a signee of the Texans three years ago, in which he played two seasons at Lon Morris College. Kevin has great range along with great ball skills. He led his Lon Morris with four returned INTs for touchdowns.”
Cordell Valentine, WR, jr, 6-0, 185, Vicksburg, Miss. (Hinds CC)
Played in nine games as a sophomore in 2010 and recorded 18 receptions for 453 yards and six touchdowns… As a freshman in 2009, had 12 catches for 212 yards and a touchdown in eight games played…
Coaches say: “Cordell runs a sub 4.3 40. Cordell is transferring from Hinds Community College in Mississippi where he was an all-star just 3 months ago. With his speed and quickness Cordell will be a touchdown threat every time the ball is in his hands.”

Andre Allen, DE, 6-4, 225, Killeen Ellison
Named Second Team All-District 12-5A defensive end in 2010.
Coaches say: “Andre showed great ability and upside this past summer at our Senior All-Star Camp. He has great length to be an effective pass-rusher off the edge. Along with his athletic ability, Andre is a man of integrity and will bring great leadership qualities to the Texans.”
Jarett Alvarado, DL, 6-1, 260, Rowlett
Named Second Team All-District 10-5A defensive lineman.
Coaches say: “Jarett has the size and strength to move down and play defensive tackle or end and rush the quarterback from either position. Jarett is a versatile defensive lineman who loves to get physical.”
Kade Cole, LB, 5-11, 220, Mineral Wells Community Christian School
Named first team all-district and first team all-state on offense and first team all-district and first team all-state in 2010.
Coaches say: “Kade will be making the transition from Six-Man football to 11-Man football. He has shown great athletic ability the past two summers while attending camps and on his game film. Kade is a great football player and a better man.”
Bo Davis, DE, 6-2, 225, McKinney Boyd
Served as team captain in 2010.
Coaches say: “Bo has great speed (4.5 40-yard dash) and athleticism. He is going to be a terror for offensive linemen in the Lone Star Conference for years to come. He has the ability to put his hand in the dirt and rush the passer and on the next play drop into coverage. Don’t be surprised to see Bo leaping over would-be blockers on his way to sack the quarterback for the Texans.”
Nathan Fisher, DB, 6-3, 195, Midlothian
Named First Team All-District 5-5A defensive back as a senior… Named team’s Most Valuable Player in 2010…
Coaches say, “Nathan is a dual-threat athlete on the football field and track. Nathan has great size with tremendous speed and range on both sides of the ball. Physical play is the nature of his game.”
Jade Grant, LB, 6-1, 215, Richardson Berkner
Was a 2010 first team all-academic team member… Received the Leadership Award…
Coaches say: “Jade is a defensive end/linebacker who had to play most of his senior year on the offensive line to help the team. Jade has a motor that does not stop, and he absolutely refuses to lose.”
JD Harris, OL, 6-4, 225, Arlington Seguin
Named Second Team All-District 7-4A offensive lineman in 2010… Played on the same team at Seguin High School with current Tarleton redshirt freshman, Juan Gonzalez…
Coaches say: “JD is a great pick up because of his long length and range out on the edge. JD is a young man of tremendous pride in his craft, and he has an unwilling desire to be the best.”
Roderick Harris, LB, 5-10, 200, North Mesquite
Was the District 11-5A Defensive Most Valuable Player as a senior… Named First Team All-District 11-51 as a linebacker…
Coaches say: “Roderick has been talked about as one of the best linebackers to ever come through his school. Roderick has great instincts for the ball – who is a sure tackler in space. He understands the game of football.”
Spencer Harvey, OL, 6-4, 260, McKinney
Named Second Team All-District 10-4A offensive lineman in 2010…
Coaches say: “Spencer has the athletic ability to play any position on the offensive or defensive line. With his length and athleticism, Spencer is going to be an outstanding offensive lineman for the Texans.”
Robert Hinton, DL, 6-3, 265, Rockwall
Named Second Team All-District 10-4A offensive lineman in 2010… Was honorable mention Academic All-State honoree…
Coaches say: “Robert played on both sides of the ball for Rockwall. Robert is also an All-State wrestler in the heavy weight division. With Robert’s size and quickness, he is going to be a major contributor on the defensive line for years to come.”
Eric Horsley, RB, 5-9, 175, Dallas Madison
Named All-District 12-3A as a senior…
Coaches say: “Eric is a gifted running back who has great balance and vision. Eric is the type of running back that finishes every play like it’s his last one. While at Madison High School, in Dallas, Eric maintained honor roll status and leadership qualities.”
Kole Johnston, TE/LB, 6-3, 190, Crawford
Named District 4-2A Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2010… Was First Team All-District 4-2A linebacker and was named First Team All-Big Country linebacker… Named First Team All-District 4-2A tight end and was an honorable mention All-Cen-Tex tight end.
Coaches say: “Kole is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball. While at Crawford, he played both tight end and linebacker. Kole has chosen to stay closer to home turning down an offer from Youngtown State.”

Coaches say: “Sean comes to us from former Texan Mark Elam. Sean’s nickname is Tank, he can play inside or outside linebacker along with being a running back. He plays the game how it is supposed to be played, physical. Tank has the ability play many different positions on the football field.”
