Tim McCarty is set to return to East Central as the head coach of the Tigers. The university has scheduled a press conference for Monday to make the announcement.
ECU officials would not declare McCarty the choice to become the next head coach of the Tigers, but KXII sources confirmed that the Kansas State assistant is on his way back to Ada.
McCarty coached two seasons at ECU from 2004 to 2005. His teams managed a 9-11 record in those two years. They went 6-4 in his first season, and 3-7 in year two.
McCarty will replace Kurt Nicholls, who was dismissed with two games left in the season, but was allowed to finish out the year as the coach.
McCarty was the top assistant for Kansas State Coach Ron Prince, who was fired and replaced by Bill Snyder as head coach of the Wildcats.
