Javelinas' Strickland drafted in 25th round
KINGSVILLE — Texas A&M-Kingsville left-handed pitcher Sam Strickland was drafted in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Strickland was the 760th overall pick.

The 6-foot-5 left-hander was 5-4 with a 5.15 earned-run average last season. He started 12 games and threw five complete games. In 71.2 innings pitched, he struck out 82 and walked 30.


Javelinas Pitcher Drafted By Toronto Blue Jays
KINGSVILLE - Javelinas pitcher Sam Strickland was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round.

He is scheduled to fly out to camp this Saturday. The lefty was tabbed second team all LSC this season after finishing 5 and 4, with a 5.15 era.

He became just the second Hoggie to strikeout 80-plus batters in back-to-back seasons.
