Davis ready to carry load for Javelinas - George Vondracek, Corpus Christi Caller Times
KINGSVILLE — Senior running back Connell Davis will be the first to admit that he and the Texas A&M-Kingsville offense have room for improvement.
For the optimistic Davis, he is just pleased he now is the featured running back for the sixth-ranked Javelinas.
"It felt good to get out there and get some reps. I feel like I only got a taste, I'll put it that way, of what's more to come," Davis said. "I'm excited about this week. We've got a big game, home game. I'm excited."

RiverHawks to face nation’s top offense - Ben Johnson, Tahlequah Daily Press
Northeastern State returns home this weekend, but at this rate, the RiverHawks may want to continue on the road.
NSU has won two of its three games on the road while its first home game was against the fourth-ranked team (Abilene Christian) in Division II. The RiverHawks' second home game is against another top-10 team, West Texas A&M, the ninth-ranked team in the nation who sports the best offense in D-II.
"They are a perennial power, and they're no different this year," said NSU head coach Kenny Evans, talking about the Buffaloes from Canyon, Texas. "They're one of the top teams in the country ... and with the exception of losing to the No. 1 team in the country, Grand Valley State (Mich.), they've pretty much dominated everyone else."
UCO's 2011 football schedule almost done - Scott Munn, The Oklahoman
With Central Oklahoma tabbed as an NCAA Division II independent next year, finding schools with available football dates — and willing to play in Edmond — might seem like a difficult assignment.
Athletic director Joe Muller is not ready to announce who the Bronchos will play, but he is happy to say the 2011 schedule is three-quarters complete. Muller said he might be ready to release the schedule in October.
"Geographically, we are in a good spot. We're in central Oklahoma, a good location, we have a good brand, and that helps a lot," Muller said.
