LSC Scoop Power Poll and Week Twelve Superlatives

1. ACU (1) - Wrap up the region's top seed, while getting the reserves plenty of playing time.
2. TAMK (2) - 153 of yards and 14 points allowed came against fourth quarter reserves.
3. WTAM (3) - Really piled up the yards against the Tigers.
4. MSU (4) - Winning without Eskridge not enough to get Mustangs into playoffs.
5. ASU (5) - Rams' fans wondering what could have been with a few breaks...
6. ECU (6) - Despite the big loss to WT, the season is an unqualified success.
7. NSU (7) - Too many mistakes to beat MSU, but still a great season for the Riverhawks.
8. ENMU (9) - First road win of season.
9. TSU (8) - Texans glad to have 2010 season behind them.
10. UIW (11) - Nice win to close out initial LSC season.
11. SOSU (10) - Could do little against Javelina starters.
12. SWO (12) - No answers for ACU, but took a step back toward respectability this year.
13. TAMC (13) - Loss to UIW exemplifies 2010 season.
14. UCO (14) - Offense strong early, faded down stretch - similar to several games this year for young Bronchos.

Best Overall Team Performance - Abilene Christian

The Wildcats were pretty dominant in their game with Southwestern Oklahoma, outgaining them 492-284, leading 35-3 at the half and 47-10 midway through the fourth quarter, despite substituting freely in the second half.  Charcandrick West, Daryl Richardson and Josh Morgan combined for 219 yards and 4 TDs rushing.  At the half, ACU had gained 305 yards and limited SWO to just 120.

Best Team Offensive Performance - West Texas A&M

The Buffs set a school single game record against East Central by piling up 735 yards of offense.  Taylor Harris threw for 572 yards and 5 TDs, including a 7 yarder to Stephon Burton with 9:02 to play, putting WT by a 45-14 margin.  Tyson Williams had 12 catches for 203 yards, while Burton had 14 catches for 132 yards and 2 TDs.  Kelvin Thompson and Tommy Hampton combined for 149 yards rushing on just 16 carries, and Jay Tillman scored 3 TDs, on 3 receptions and 4 rushing attempts.

Best Team Defensive Performance - Eastern New Mexico

The Greyhounds are usually thought of for their offense, but the defense led the way at Tarleton State.  ENMU held the Texans to just 64 yards rushing on 35 attempts, and intercepted 4 Nick Stephens passes, and limited him to just 15-34 for 169 yards.  Three consecutive Texan second quarter drives ended with interceptions, the final returned 98 yards by Devin Sweet and Tavius Bigelow for a TD, putting ENMU up 21-3 with under a minute to go in the half.

Best Offensive Performance - Trent Rios, Incarnate Word

Rios was a workhorse, carrying the ball 37 times for 207 yards and adding 3 catches for another 16 in Saturday's 17-16 win over Texas A&M-Commerce.  Rios saved his best for last, gaining 95 of his yards on 15 fourth quarter carries, helping Incarnate to take a one point lead, and then running out the final 5:32 after the Lions punted the ball.  Those final two drives consumed 13:51 of the clock on 29 plays.

Best Defensive Performance - Tavius Bigelow, Eastern New Mexico

Bigelow had a great game for the Greyhounds.  Not only did he have 7 tackles, but added two interceptions and then took the ball the final 20 yards on Devin Sweet's interception, changing the momentum of the game.  Bigelow's first interception came early in the second quarter inside the red zone.  Two drives later, Devin Sweet intercepted a Nick Stephens pass at the Greyhound two yard line.  He returned it 78 yards, then lateraled the ball to Bigelow for the final 20 yards and a TD.  Finally, Bigelow got his second interception, again inside the red zone with just over 6 minutes to play in the game.

Best Special Teams Performance - Ahmed Abo-Mahmo, Texas A&M Commerce

Abo-Mahmo was perfect kicking Saturday, converting his only PAT and going 3-3 on field goals, hitting from 22, 41 and 48 yards.  His 48 yarder came with 9:10 to play in the third quarter,  pulling the Lions to within 10-9 of host Incarnate Word.
