From David "Smoaky" Smoak
Life is great. You are a twenty-one-year-old honor student who also plays college football for the 5th ranked, Division II Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas. You are ranked nationally with seven QB sacks, and you’re getting attention from NFL scouts. This is the life of former Bells (Texas) High School football player Matt Romig. What a life and what a future!
Yesterday morning at 9:00 A.M. Matt gave me a call and a shock. Matt received a rib injury in the Javelinas’ game last week and went to the doctor to check it out. Tests revealed problems with his white cell count, which led to more tests. Matt has been diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. More tests are being run to determine if it is Hodgkin’s or non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Doctors are positive and encouraging about Matt’s prognosis, but chemotherapy will be his next opponent. How can anything positive come out of this? I don’t know why things like this happen, but I do know I have made it through many trials by faith in Christ, and I am sure He will be there for Matt too.
I would ask that you put Matt on your prayer list.
It is my prayer that God will heal Matt and that this will glorify Him
