With its 37-26 win over Lincoln (Mo.), Emporia State (Kan.) moved its record to 5-0 and jumped into the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the first time since the final poll of 2003. The Hornets come into the poll at No. 25. Fellow Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association member Pittsburg State (Kan.) still sits at No. 1 with 29 first-place votes. Minnesota-Duluth lost to St. Cloud State (Minn.), 51-49, dropping the Bulldogs to No. 10 this week. Moving up to the No. 2 spot is Colorado State-Pueblo, who beat Fort Lewis (Colo.) 50-21. The Thunderwolves are followed by No. 3 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 4 Winston-Salem State (N.C.) and No. 5 Missouri Western State.
Two other Top 10 teams fell this week as then-No. 6 California (Pa.) lost 37-34 to West Chester (Pa.), dropping the Vulcans 10 spots to No. 16. Humboldt State (Calif.) got beat by Central Washington, 31-3, dropping the Lumberjacks from No. 9 to No. 24. There is only one Top 25 matchup this week as No. 18 West Alabama plays host to No. 13 Midwestern State (Texas) on a Thursday night contest. Newberry (S.C.) was the only team to fall out of the poll this week. They lost to Mars Hill (N.C.), 35-28.

He added a season and career-high six receptions for a season and career-high 90 yards receiving and a touchdown in the game, while returning three punts for 11 yards. Led the team with 226 all-purpose yards. Leads the team with 293 yards on the ground in three games and one touchdown for a 6.1 average. Fifth on the team in receiving yards with 169 and a score, while leading the team in all-purpose yards with 577 for a 192.3 average in just three games.

Mason played a crucial role in helping A&M-Commerce to a 21-14 overtime win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night, tallying 13 tackles, including five solo. Mason also had a pass break-up as the Javelinas were driving deep in Lion territory, and helped seal the overtime victory for A&M-Commerce, recording a sack on Javelina quarterback Bryan Ehrlich on A&M-Kingsville’s first play of overtime. The defensive team captain, Mason’s play helped the Lions to their first Chennault Cup victory since 2001 and their first win over a team from the state of Texas since 2008.

Saladino equaled the longest field goal by at Midwestern State kicker at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls when he split the uprights from 47-yards, the longest in the Lone Star Conference this season. It was part of his 10 points in the No. 14 Mustangs 34-7 win over Incarnate Word. Saladino also connected on a field goal from 30 yards out and was 4-of-4 in PATs for the game. Saladino improved to 7-of-7 in field goals and 16-of-16 in PATs this season. Saladino leads the LSC in kick scoring with 9.2 points a game, which is second in overall scoring in the conference. He also punted three times with a 34.3 average, with two punts inside the 20 and none returned.
