Incarnate Word 2013 Signing Day List

2013 Cardinals High School Signees

Michael Allen - A 6-0, 205-pound linebacker from Garland, TX played at Garland Lakeview Centennial High School.  He earned second team all-district honors as a junior after making 111 tackles, 51 solo, including eight tackles for loss and seven sacks.  As a senior, he notched 120 tackles, 80 solo, en route to earning first team all-district honors.  He added two sacks and two interceptions in only eight games.  He is the son of Michael and Jacqueline Allen and plans to study criminal justice with a minor in kinesiology.  His father played football for Oklahoma State.

John Almaraz – A 6-3, 317-pound offensive lineman from Houston, TX played at Cypress Lakes High School.  He earned Academic All-District honors and won the team’s Spartan Award.  He is the son of John Almaraz and Ana Rios and is undecided on his field of study.

Jared Ambres – A 6-0, 180-pound safety from Manvel, TX played at Manvel High School.  He earned first team all-district honors as a senior.  He recorded 35 tackles and has six pass breakups in 2012.  He is the son of Christine Ambres and plans to study engineering management.

Daryl Brooks - A 6-3, 175-pound wide receiver from Teague, TX played at Teague High School.  He helped lead his team to an 8-4 record and appearance in the Area Finals as a senior.  He was named first team all-district as a wide receiver and defensive back and took home Super Cen-Tex Honorable Mention honors at wide receiver.  He had 40 catches for 743 yards and eight touchdowns receiving a total of 15 touchdowns.  In addition, he had 50 and four interceptions on defense.  In his junior season, he was a second team all-district quarterback after passing for 920 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushing for 880 yards and 14 touchdowns.  He was named the district offensive MVP in basketball as a junior and was a first team all-district player as a sophomore.  He is the son of Daryl Brooks and Tamica Carter and is undecided on his field of study.

Michael Cameron – 6-1, 275-pound offensive lineman from San Antonio, TX played at Churchill High School.  He was a two-year starter and earned District 26-5A honorable mention honors as a senior.  He helped lead the team to a pair of playoff appearances.  He is the son of Mike and Tracie Cameron and plans to study sports medicine.

Tyler Colbert - A 6-1, 315-pound nose guard from Fort Worth, TX played at Southwest High School.  He was a three-time first team all-district player and led Southwest to a pair of district titles.  He was named to the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Army Strong Team of the Week during his junior season.  He played on the Team USA Under-19 football team in 2012 earning a silver medal at the IFAF World Championships.  He is the son of Lamonte and Ramona Colbert and plans to studying business management.  His brother, Trey, currently plays at Southern Illinois University.  He was also a regional qualifier in the shot put.

Taryn Davis - A 6-6, 220-pound defensive end-outside linebacker from Dallas, TX played at Carrolton Newman Smith High School.  He earned first team all-district honors as a senior at defensive end.  He recorded 33 tackles, four sacks and 11 tackles for loss during the year.  He is the son of Troy and Kristi Davis and plans to study information systems.

Jamari Gilbert – a 6-1, 178-pound safety from Baytown, TX played at Baytown Lee High School.  He is an outstanding athlete who earned first team all-district honors in basketball and was a regional qualifier in the 200 meters.  He is the son of Fred and Jada Gilbert and is undecided on his field of study.  His father played football at University of Houston.

Kaleb Hardy - A 6-3, 230-pound quarterback from Round Rock, TX played at Florence High School.  He was a first team all-district quarterback and earned Academic All-State honors as a senior.  He passed for 1,380 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 553 yards and six touchdowns in just seven games in 2012.  He was named the district Newcomer of the Year as a junior after passing 1,724 yards and nine touchdowns and rushing for 712 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a member of the National Honor Society.  He is the son of Ryan and Shari Hardy and is undecided on his field of study.

Jordan Hicks - A 5-8, 167-pound wide receiver from Arlington, TX played at Juan Seguin High School.  He was a first team all-district performer as a junior and named the team's Sophomore of the Year in 2010 and Freshman of the Year in 2009.  He set a school record with 202 yards receiving in a game against Joshua as a sophomore.  He is the son of Charemon Peery and Vincent Hicks and plans to study pre-medicine with a minor in business.

Joel Higgins – A 6-0, 195-pound inside linebacker from Austin, TX played at Sweeny High School.  He was a first team all-district and all-county performer as a senior after being named the team’s defensive MVP.  He was an Academic All-District choice as well.  He is the son of Lonnie and Vicki Higgins and is undecided on his field of study.  He is related to Johnnie Lee Higgins who played at UTEP and for the Oakland Raiders.

Austin Jennings – A 6-3, 275-pound offensive tackle from San Antonio, TX played at Smithson Valley High School.  During his senior year he was named First Team All-District 25-5A and All-Comal County at left tackle.  He helped lead the team to a district and bi-district championship.  As a junior, he was on a team that won the District 27-4A and bi-district titles.  He earned academic all-district honors as a junior and senior.  He is the son of Wes and Lynda Jennings and plans to studying business management with a minor in finance.

Blake Klumpp – A 6-3, 210-pound outside linebacker from San Antonio, TX played at Alamo Heights High School.  He earned first team all-district honors in 2010 and 2012 and was a second team selection in 2011.  He was a three-time Academic All-District choice and earned second team All-Area honors as a senior.  He helped lead Alamo Heights to a pair of district titles and three playoff appearances.  He was also a three-time all-district baseball player.  He is an Eagle Scout and co-editor of the Hoffprint School Newspaper.  He is the son of Billy and Cathy Klumpp and plans to study business.

Corey Lee – A 6-0, 260-pound defensive tackle from Humble, TX played at La Porte High School.  He earned District 21-5A First Team honors as a junior and a senior.  He is the son of Russelyn Lee and is planning to study business.

Keshon Leonard – A 5-7, 160-pound running back from Rosenberg, TX played at Lamar Consolidated High School.  He was a two-time first team all-district and all-area back.  As a senior, he rushed for 1,274 yards and 13 touchdowns on 153 carries.  He rushed for over 100 yards in 7-of-9 games and went over 200 yards in each of his last two games.  He also rushed for over 1,000 yards as a junior.  He is the son of Rodney and Keisha Leonard and is undecided on his field of study.

Matthew Mayle – A 6-0, 170-pound wide receiver from Schertz, TX played at Cibolo Steele High School.  He earned all-district honors in 2011 and 2012.  He had 40 catches for 931 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and 26 catches for 491 yards and two touchdowns a senior.  He helped lead the team to a State Championship as a sophomore and Runner-Up finish as a junior.  He is the son of Robert and Joanna Mayle and is undecided on his field of study.

Breylann McCollum – A 6-1, 200-pound quarterback from Cibolo, TX played at Cibolo Steele High School.  He was named the district offensive MVP and earned Second Team All-Area honors while leading the team to a State semifinal spot.  He was part of a State championship team in 2010 and State Runner-Up in 2011.  He is the son of Brent McCollum and Chajuann Littlefield and plans to study kinesiology with a minor in education.  His father played football at BYU.

Adrian Norwood, Jr. - A 5-11, 185-pound safety from Waco, TX played at Waco High School.  He was named the Super Cen-Tex Defensive Player of the Year as a senior after recording 101 tackles, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two blocked field goals.  He also returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown during the season.  He earned First Team All-District 8-4A, Super Cen-Tex and ESPN All-Star team honors.  He was named to the Academic All-State Team in 2012.  Ge earned First Team All-State, All-District 8-4A, Super Cen-Tex and ESPN All-Central Texas honors as a junior.  He had 42 solo tackles, eight interceptions and four pass breakups in 2011.  He was a first team all-district safety as a sophomore.  He helped lead Waco to three straight playoff appearances, including a regional final spot as a senior.  He was a member of LEAD and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He is the son of Adrian and Stacy Norwood and plans to study engineering management with a minor in business.

John Oglesby – A 6-1, 200-pound running back from Katy, TX played at Seven Lakes High School.  He earned honorable mention all-district honors as a senior and was named the team’s comeback player of the year.  He is the son of John and Candice Oglesby and is undecided on his field of study.  His father played running back at TCU.

Chase Ragusa - A 5-8, 170-pound wide receiver from Cypress, TX played at Cypress Woods High School.  He earned all-district honors as a junior and helped lead his team to a pair of playoff appearances, including a State quarterfinal appearance.  He had 21 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns as a junior.  He is the son of Michael and Kara Ragusa and plans to study business.

Broderick Reeves - A 5-9, 185-pound running back from Mexia, TX played at Mexia High School.  He was a three-time all-district performer earning first team honors as a sophomore and junior.  He rushed for 1,100 yards during his junior season.  He is the son of Trinissa Bluitt and is undecided on his field of study.

Justin Roberts – A 6-4, 240-pound offensive lineman from Schertz, TX played at Cibolo Steele High School.  He played on three teams that advanced deep in the playoffs, including a State 5A Championship in 2010 and Runner-Up finish in 2011.  He earned second team all-district honors.  He is the son of Mark and Lori Roberts and is undecided on his field of study.

Johnny Session - A 5-10, 218-pound running back from Mesquite, TX played at Mesquite High School.  He was a two-time first team all-district selection and helped lead the team to a 12-1 record and berth in the Area finals as a senior.  He rushed for 668 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 30 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns in 2012.  During his junior year he rushed for 988 yards and 19 touchdowns on 237 carries and caught 27 passes for 324 yards and a touchdown.  He is the son of Linda Stocks and plans to study business.

Allen Smith - A 6-2, 210-pound outside linebacker from Missouri City, TX played at Fort Bend Marshall High School.  He helped lead Marshall to a 13-1 record and State quarterfinal appearance in 2012.  He was named first team all-district after recording 44 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a senior.  He is the son of Allen and Carol Smith and plans to study kinesiology with a minor in business.

Michael Thomas – A 6-3, 220-pound tight end from Angleton, TX played at Angleton High School.  He earned first team all-district and all-county honors as a senior after catching 13 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns.  He was an honorable mention all-district honoree as a junior.  He is the son of Sandra Trevino and plans to study business.  His cousin, Emmitt Thomas, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and current coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Deion Williams - A 5-10, 190-pound running back from Katy, TX played at Katy Morton Ranch High School.  He led Morton Ranch to their first ever playoff appearances in 2011 and 2012.  He earned first team all-district honors as a junior after rushing for 937 yards on 167 carries.  As a senior, he was named the district MVP after rushing for 1,807 yards and 18 touchdowns on 196 carries.  He had 49 carries for 547 yards and five touchdowns in one game, the third most yards in Texas High School history.  He is the son of Donald Roberson and Elaine Williams and plans to study pharmacy.

Josh Zellars – A 6-0, 195-pound inside linebacker from Baytown, TX played at Baytown Lee High School.  He earned first team all-district honors as a junior and honorable mention honors as a senior.  During his senior year, he was named Lee’s team MVP and offensive MVP.  He is the son of Warren and Gloria Zellars and plans to study business.  His brother, Zack, played football at Incarnate Word.

Transfers

Jarrius James - A 6-1, 175-pound cornerback from Galveston, TX played at Galveston Ball High School.  He earned second team all-district honors in 2009.  He played two seasons at the College of the Siskiyous and earned first team all-conference honors.  He helped lead the team to a 10-1 record and a 47-18 win in the NFCA Central Division Bowl game.  He is the son of Sabrena Lowe and plans to study early childhood education.

Alex Jenkins - A 6-5, 268-pound defensive lineman from Bath, England played at Bristol Academy.  He graduated from St. Gregory's Catholic School in 2010.  He was first noticed at the Football University (FBU) Camp at Stirling University in Scotland.  At the camp, he gained a spot on the FBU All-Europe Team and was noticed by former NFL defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell.  Cottrell was so impressed with Jenkins that he invited him to the FBU Top Gun Event in Virginia this past summer. He was the first British player to be featured on the Rivals.com website which brought interest from a number of college football programs.  He is the son of Peter and Sandra Jenkins and is undecided on his field of study.
