Nall returns to CHS to work camp

Nostalgia was flowing for University of Central Oklahoma assistant coach Micah Nall Monday as he worked a lineman’s camp at Chisholm High School, his alma mater.

“Things may change cosmetically, but the kids are the same,’’ said Nall, a 1994 CHS graduate. “They are the same, old-fashioned, hard-working kids.’’

Working the camp for Nall was a combination of giving back to his alma mater and getting a look at players in his new job as UCO’s offensive line coach.

Chisholm was just one of the many camps Nall has worked this summer. Northwest Oklahoma will be his recruiting territory.

“You never know where the players will be,’’ Nall said. “That’s why I’m here.’’

Nall was promoted to a full-time coach by new Bronchos head coach Tracy Holland after spending two years on the staff as a graduate assistant.

He had been a high school coach for six years before that — as a student coach at Watonga, the offensive line coach at Ponca City and the offensive coordinator at Miami.

“I felt like I paid my dues,’’ Nall said. “Doing the grunt work really prepared me for the job I’m doing now.’’
