LSC Roundup 4-9

Golf: Singh ready for the Masters, to play with Tiger Woods
Former Abilene Christian standout Jeev Singh is set to tee it up with World No. 1 Tiger Woods at this week's Masters.

The group, which also includes Stewart Cink, is scheduled to tee off at 1:52 p.m. in Thursday's opening round at Augusta National Golf Club. Woods, a four-time winner of the Masters, is looking for his 15th major title.

Singh is competing in his third consecutive Masters, after finishing tied for 25th in 2008 and tied for 37th in 2007. He turned in his best finish on the PGA Tour with a fourth place finish at the CA Championship last month at Doral Golf Resort & Spa.

The all-America golfer led ACU to the 1993 NCAA Division II national championship. He played two seasons for the Wildcats (1992-93), but is arguably the school's greatest golfer. He led ACU to its only national championship in golf by winning the individual championships at the Lone Star Conference, regional and national tournaments.
LHS' Foster Signs With Texas A&M-Commerce
Lakeland High tight end Blayze Foster signed with Texas A&M Commerce on March 28. Foster said he arrived on Commerce's campus on March 27 and that the Lions already were at the top of his list. He expects to compete for a starting job right away and plans to major in criminal justice or construction science.

"Basically, I've got a really good shot at starting right off the bat," Foster said. He added that the Division II program's new coaching staff, led by former Kentucky and Baylor head coach Guy Morriss, was a big reason he chose the Lions. "He's big on grades and discipline," Foster said of Morriss.
