LSC Baseball Preseason Power Poll

Angelo State on top in LSC Scoop Pre-Season Poll

On the heels of their 2007 College World Series appearance, the Angelo State Rams get the nod in the LSC Scoop preseason poll. The Rams look to be set offensively, returning 6 All-LSC first and second teamers in the field, plus ace Michael Gunter, who went 10-5 with a 3.34 ERA las year. The will have to overcome the loss of Cody Broussard who was 12-2 with a 3.83 ERA. Nipping on their heels, the ACU Wildcats. Despite a 47-13 record, ACU was somehow left out of the NCAA regional tournament. The Wildcats pitching should be every bit as strong as the Rams offense. Trey Watten, Chris Wiman and Jameson Maj combined to go 24-6 with 20 saves. They will be potent on offense as well. In the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason poll, both teams are in the top 10 - Abilene is ranked #5, while Angelo State is #9. Central Oklahoma is right up there as well, ready to battle for the top of the LSC. Northeastern State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Southeastern Oklahoma appear to be a notch below the top teams, but they have the ability to surprise the big 3. It's pretty muddled after that, but for ECU, it looks like another year in the cellar.

+ means returning players, - means graduated players

LSC Softball Preseason Power Poll

Angelo State is easliy the top choice for Preseason LSC Scoop Softball Power Poll. The Rambelles return a solid corps of players from last year's team that set an LSC record for wins in a season. They led the LSC in batting average, runs scored and stolen bases to name just a few, and when your top two returning pitchers were a combined 50-12, you're in pretty good shape. Midwestern State will give Angelo State a run for the LSC, and likely the South Central Title.

NFCA Preseason Poll has Angelo State at #5 and Midwestern State #17. St Marys is #9.

10 Questions - Zack Pate Round Rock

10 Questions with Zack Pate

The Round Rock Dragons were thought to be in rebuilding mode last year. Instead they made it to the third round of the playoffs for the second year in a row and knocked off Pflugerville in the final week of the regular season. One of the stars of that team was Zack Pate, a two-time first team 14-5A all-district honoree, the 2007 14-5A Defensive MVP, 2007 All-Centex defensive back, who in racked up 282 tackles, forced 9 fumbles, and had 2 Ints in his junior and senior seasons.

Scoop: You leave Round Rock after an outstanding career in which you not only racked up numerous awards (see above, too many to re-list), but you also played some tailback and had 551 yds rushing and an impressive 8 yds per carry . What do you think your lasting memories of your high school career will be?

ZP: I would have to say that coming in as a Freshman was a big adjustment and being pulled up to Varsity as a Sophomore was learning period... how to play with the big boys! Through it all I learned the most important thing was learning to play as a team and not an individual player.

Scoop: You played both offense and defense. Which do you prefer and why?

ZP: Overall, I prefer defense because of its "bad boy" image. Defense does all the dirty work and doesn't get much recognition for it. Offense are the "glory boys". That is OK because a real Defensive player doesn't need the spotlight on them to do their job. I enjoy making the plays that change the game.

Scoop: Compare your thoughts after these two games: the win over eventual state runner-up Pflugerville Panthers in the final week of district allowing RR to make the playoffs, and the close playoff loss to Dallas Skyline in the third round of the playoffs.

ZP: I would have to say the Pflugerville game was more of an expectation to win. With all of the hard work we put into the pregame it was "in the bag" or more of a self fulfilling prophecy that we were going to win. Our guys knew we had to take care of business in order to keep our dreams of playoffs alive. Skyline, on the other hand, was a huge disappointment. To go into the game knowing you can beat your opponent but you just didn't do it; made it really bad. We knew that our team had more potential to go further in the playoff than Skyline did. To know that we could have beat them... to know we should have beat them... that will always be in my mind. We made it this far 2 years in a row and our team goal was to win and take it all the way to State.

Scoop: Who was the best player you saw this year on an opposing team? Do you study what they do on the field that makes them successful?

ZP: The best player I was up against this year was Troy Stoudermire (Skyline). A lot of the plays he made were on his feet. He was very illusive and if you weren't on your toes in a 1x1 situation your going to get caught trying to make the tackle on him. You had to watch him really close.

Scoop: What player, college or pro, do you play most like?

ZP: Bob Sanders - FS of Indianapolis Colts. Because for one, we are the same size (5'8") and it doesn't affect the way he plays and it certainly doesn't affect me either. He is ruthless! You can't let little things like size affect the way you play. It is more about what is inside and not what is outside. Everyone wishes they had more height or was stronger or faster but you have to play with what God gave you and learn to perfect that. He goes above and beyond when making plays. I feel I do the same.

Scoop: If I'm a coach, why would I want a person like you on my team? What are your best qualities?

ZP: If I was a coach I would look for guys like me to fill my team. I bring a lot of hard work to the table. Everything I do I'm sold-out 100% to do whatever it takes to get the job done. I have good leadership skills and leadership is not something you just have but something you have learned from others. I'm all about competing, I don't want to just play, I want to play to win. I don't give up easy or lay down when things start to get hard.

Scoop: Have you decided on a major for college? What kind of career would you like to have?

ZP: Major in kinesiology so I can be a Coach. I would like have a positive impact in other peoples lives like my coaches have done for me. I want to give back to others and help them be more successful in their careers no matter what they choose.

Scoop: Have any LSC schools been recruiting you? Do you have a favorite?

ZP: Yes, Abilene Christian, Angelo State and Tarleton. I have visited Angelo and will be going to Tarleton in the next week. Abilene Christian came by school and talked with me the other day. Right now, I don't have a favorite.

Scoop: What teammates do you think are capable of playing college ball but are being overlooked?

ZP: There are 2 that come to mind, Patrick Acosta and Mike Kelley. If I had to pick someone that had the same mentality, work ethic and desire about football as me it would be Mike Kelley. He is a tough Linebacker. Pat is an athlete. He can adapt to play several positions because he is a true student of the game.

Scoop: Any advice for guys coming up next year on how to prepare themselves for college, both on the field and in the classroom?

ZP: Don't wait till your Senior year to realize you have to work hard! Start your 9th grade! You should use the same intensity that you play football with in the classroom on your school work. Be prepared to dedicate yourself through hard work giving 110% to your athletic and mental development. Football and class work go hand in hand. You won't be successful in one with out being successful in the other.

Thanks Zack, best of luck to you.

Coaching Changes at Midwestern State

MSU loses two assistants, while a third is rumored to be leaving as well

Link to Story in Times News Record

"Offensive coordinator Glenn Thomas has been hired by the Atlanta Falcons as an offensive quality control coach. Thomas was an intern coaching wide receivers for the Baltimore Ravens in training camp from 2001-2005. Brian Billick, former Ravens' HC, is married to Felicia Thomas's aunt (Felicia is Glenn's wife).

“It was a no-brainer,” the 30-year-old Thomas said. “I’m fortunate to have
NFL connections. That level has always intrigued me. Coach Mas (Bill
Maskill) knows that’s something I’d like to do professionally and I
appreciate his support on that. I talked to (MSU president) Dr. (Jesse)
Rogers yesterday and he understands that, too.

Once you get there you have to prove what you know,” he said. “The success
and productivity we’ve had gives me some credibility to get hired. I’ve worked
with some good players and some good coaches to put me where I am today. Now I
have to prove myself again.”

Thomas isn’t the only coach Maskill will have to replace. Secondary coach Allen Johnson left the team in mid-January to become the Defensive Coordinator at Texas A&M-Commerce.."

SCOOP - A third (and even bigger) defection is rumored to be forthcoming. We are in the process of verifying and will post the announcement once it has been confirmed.

10 Questions - Josh Miles San Antonio Madison

10 Questions with Josh Miles
For a team as talented as the San Antonio Madison Mavericks, colleges haven't been taking much notice. The Mavericks improved on a 5-5 2006 record by going 13-2 and a spot in the 5A semi-finals. One of the stars of the team was RB Josh Miles, who rushed for 736 yds on only 76 carries, he also caught 12 passes for another 270 yds and scored a combined 10 TDs. He accomplished this despite starting only 4 games before getting injured in the regular season finale.

Scoop: You leave Madison after an outstanding season last fall. What do you think your lasting memories of your high school career will be?

JM: What i will probably remember most was just our team in general. We had a lot of fun over the years. I think of every single one of my teammates as brothers and friends. Even though I didn't play in the playoffs because my injury those were the happiest times because when you look back we've come a long way from being 5-5 last year. I don't think I'll ever forget the heart and determination my team showed out there on the field and that will be hard to forget.

Scoop: The Mavericks were riding high, undefeated through 6 games, when starting RB Devin Thomas was lost for the season. You stepped in and rushed for 508 yards in only 4 starts in the tough 26-5A district. What were your thoughts leading up to your first start against perennial powerhouse (and eventual division I state finalist) Converse Judson?

JM: My thoughts were just to stay focused as a team and not to let DT's injury slow us down as many people thought it would. Me being the way I am i wasn't worried about who we were playing, I just was thinking about getting prepared because I didn't want to let down my teammates we had high expectations for our season.

Scoop: You didn't have this problem much last year - losses. How do you deal with setbacks? What was tougher, the 3 point loss to Judson (on a FG as time expired) or being on the sidelines for the state semifinal loss to Katy?

JM: Well setbacks to me are just like a bump in the road it might slow you down but it didn't stop you so you gotta move on. The 3 point loss to Judson was really tough because we were on a hot streak and then it just ended but i knew that that game didn't mean anything as far as playoffs were concerned. So i would have to say the Katy game was tougher because being so close to a state championship and falling just a week short it was tough.

Scoop: How did you help the during the playoffs? Was it difficult to maintain a positive attitude?

JM: During the playoffs I just tried to encourage and motivate everybody. We did have tough times and I never once thought that any game was over even the Katy game, and I just tried to keep everyone thinking and feeling that way any way I could.

Scoop: Who was the best player you saw this year on an opposing team? Do you study what they do on the field that makes them successful?

JM: Well to be honest I don't really pay much attention to who's good or not I just watch video and see how they play as a team and how they line up, so I can't say who was the best i went against. Now a defense as a whole I thought Judson had a very fast smart defense with excellent pursuit angles to stop the big plays.

Scoop: If I'm a coach, why would I want a person like you on my team? What are your best qualities?

JM: Well first off I have the talent to play and i think make an impact on any team I play on. I also have a good attitude and a hunger to win I've always been on a winning team. I will bring confidence, enthusiasm, and respect for the program and the team.

Scoop: What player, college or pro, do you play most like?

JM: I would have say Jones-Drew from the jaguars or Barry Sanders because those are the guys that i see myself as. Barry because he is just so quick and elusive. Then Jones-Drew because he is just so tough and he isn't scared to go against anybody.

Scoop: Have you decided on a major for college? What kind of career would you like to have.

JM: Yes, i would like to major in physical therapy or kinesiology. I plan on becoming a physical therapist in the some kind of sports atmosphere.

Scoop: Have any LSC schools been recruiting you? Do you have a favorite?

JM: Yes Tarleton state and Midwestern state. I have been wanting to attend Midwestern state for a long time now so i guess that one would be my favorite.

Scoop: Any advice for guys coming up next year on how to prepare themselves for college, both on the field and in the classroom?

JM: well first off you gotta get it done in the classroom before you look forward to any future in college sports. second play every play like its your last because some lost their opportunity and you never know when you'll lose yours so play 100 percent..100 percent of the time

Thanks Josh and best of luck to you in the future

10 Questions - Joey Boyd WR San Antonio Madison

10 Questions with Joey Boyd

The San Antonio Madison Mavericks improved on a 5-5 2006 record by going 13-2 and a spot in the 5A semi-finals. One of the stars of the team was WR Joey Boyd, who led the team with 46 receptions for 763 yards and 8 TDs.

Scoop: You leave Madison after an outstanding season last fall. What do you think your lasting memories of your high school career will be?

JB: My lasting memories of my high school career would be working hard to get where i am today. I started my freshmen year on the B-team and never got thrown too. Then one game they passed it to me and I made a defender miss and went for 6. Ever since then I have just know that I can make an impact for my team. Also I'll remember how my team pulled together injury after injury and did what no one other then us thought we could do. James Madison Mavericks Class of '08.

Scoop: The Mavericks were riding high, undefeated through 6 games, when star RB Devin Thomas was lost for the season. His replacement Josh Miles filled in admirably, but was lost as well right before the playoffs. How were you and your teammates able to overcome those losses and make it to the semifinals?

JB: Well first, we had a lot of seniors on this team and we all realize we couldnt let up and we had to push on just that much harder. We didnt have our 1st, or 2nd, or even 3rd string RB so that meant we had to all do that much more at all the little things we each were assigned. Becoming a great team started in off season last year but didnt end until the last game of the season.

Scoop: Did you believe you had a realistic chance to overcome a 21 pt deficit in the fourth quarter against Smithson Valley in the Region IV final? What kept the team from giving up? How did you feel after the game?

JB: Actually I knew that we had a chance to win and when we scored the 1st one i realize we had a lot of time left. Many times though i thought it could be over... when they scored again and when we failed to convert on 4th down. But with a steady dose of me and Bryan saying were still in this to the offensive huddle the guys knew they couldnt quit. I was dead after the game. I was on offense, punt return, kickoff return, and onside kick. I just didnt come off the field the whole 4th quarter. But I would have done it all again.

Scoop: You didn't have this problem much last year - losses. How do you deal with setbacks? What was tougher, the 3 point loss to Judson (on a FG as time expired) or the 66-21 loss to Katy in the state semifinals?

JB: Well we had just lost Devin and then add in we played at Judson to the state runner-up and add in the game winning field goal and that is a heart breaker. We all went out to win that game for Devin and we lost. The next week there was a step up from the team at practice and we beat a good Churchill team. I would say the Katy game because we were so close to our motto... State for '08.

Scoop: Who was the best player you saw this year on an opposing team? Do you study what they do on the field that makes them successful?

JB: He might not be well known but this guy for San Marcos. He played running back and then when the defense went out there he played corner. He had the task of covering me that game and although i thought there was holding almost every play it wasnt called and so he continued to do it. Its like people saying it was wrong that #8 pushed off. Well if the refs arent calling it either way then you should take advantage of it. What I saw that made him successful on the field was that he gave it his all every time the coached called his name whether it be on offense, defense, or special teams the guy went 100%.

Scoop: If I'm a coach, why would I want a person like you on my team? What are your best qualities?

JB:I am going to put in the work as well as get others to put in the work needed to be successful. I am a competitor and dont like to settle for anything other then winning. I also bring leadership both in words and in actions. I can make the big catch at the end of the game or just catch that one that moves the sticks.

Scoop: What player, college or pro, do you play most like?

JB: I would say i most play like Wes Welker or Brandon Stokely. They are both white guys that are not very fast but yet they seem to always be open. I think it is because they have a knack for finding the open area, knowing the game, and running precise routes.

Scoop: Have you decided on a major for college? What kind of career would you like to have.

JB: I would like to major in business or education to become a teacher at a school so that I can also become a coach. I love the game of football as well as baseball and I feel like there would be nothing greater in life then to teach kids everything I know to help them get to the next level and become something in life if football doesnt work out.

Scoop: Have any LSC schools been recruiting you? Do you have a favorite?

JB: The only one that I have even heard from is Tarleton. All they did was ask for game film and I havent heard from them. I would like to go to one because they are a D2 and can offer some athletic scholarship as well as staying kind of close to home.

Scoop: Any advice for guys coming up next year on how to prepare themselves for college, both on the field and in the classroom?

JB: Yeah, go to class everyday and do your homework. Try your hardest every play because you never know when your gonna get hurt and well it might be your last play ever.

New coach at Angelo State

Link to article

Matt Fryar is joining Angelo Staff as a defensive assistant, likely defensive coordinator.

Fryar is an Angelo alum and was a captain on the 2000 Rams football team.

“There are not very many places he would leave for and that’s one of them,”
Allman said. “It’s one of the things that when he set out in his coaching career
that he wanted to do, to be able to go back to Angelo State. He’s prepared
himself at this point in his career to do that. It’s an honor foremost for him
to be considered for that position and it’s an honor for our program and for our
players that he’s coached that have done so well during his tenure here for him
to be highly thought of. “Seeing Coach Fryar leave is a sad time for us because
he’s special to everyone in our program, but we’ll find a way to get better
because of it. That’ll be hard to do, but we’ll find another fabulous coach who
adds another dimension to our staff and bring them in here. It’ll end up being a
positive one way or the other.”

Defensive Coach Eule Ford has left Angelo State, possibly returning to Texas College.

(on a side note, a quick glance at the coaching staff at Permian shows Jeff Howard as the secondary coach. Is this the former All-American from ENMU and son of current ENMU OC Mike Howard?)

10 Questions - Kevin Smith QB Seguin

10 Questions with Kevin Smith

The Seguin Matadors were in rebuilding mode last year. One of bright lights on the team was QB Kevin Smith, who threw for 2,170 yds with 17 TDs and only 8 Ints, after a junior season in which he threw for 2,035 yds with 20 TDs and 3 Ints.

Scoop: You leave Seguin after an outstanding career in which you eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark twice, were a first team all district selection in a tough district and played on a district champion (as a junior). What do you think your lasting memories of your high school career will be?

KS: My lasting memories of high school will definitely be the bonding on and off the field with all of my teammates. All of the extra work and time spent together in the season, and in offseason. Some of those guys I will be keeping in contact with after college when I have a family and settle down.

Scoop: The Matadors lost the heart of the defense from 2006's 25-5A district champion and struggled in 2007. How difficult was it to maintain a positive attitude last year?

KS: To be completely honest it was very tough. But I feel that I personally gained from the experience. It was kind of a life lesson in a way. Things might not always go your way, but that doesn't mean you give up and wave the white flag.

Scoop: Who was the best player you saw this year on an opposing team? Do you study what they do on the field that makes them successful?

KS: The best player that I played against was Devin Thomas from Madison High School. He made everything look so simple and was very gifted athletically. Being that we don't play the same position it was tough to really analyze him, but I did notice he didn't try and do to much, just what his team needed and of course a little more sometimes.

Scoop: If I'm a coach, why would I want a person like you on my team? What are your best qualities?

KS: What a lot of my high school coaches tell me is that I truly lead by example. I have come to believe this also. You will not find me yelling and getting all pumped up in front of everyone. I simply do what I'm supposed to be doing and expect my teammates to do the same. But on the same note, I feel I make people around me better. I am very encouraging, and can tell players attitudes, because they are all different.

Scoop: What player, college or pro, do you play most like?

KS: It might sounds typical, but I really like to watch Tom Brady. Alot of people have compared me to him not because of the skills, but because of the mental part. He never shows emotion, no matter what kind of situation he is in, and I feel that is one of my great qualities also.

Scoop: Have you decided on a major for college? What kind of career would you like to have.

KS:I would like to get my major in either Physical Therapy or Psychology. With Physical Therapy I would like to branch into sports and maybe work for a team or my own practice. And Psychology I would like to branch into something with the government.

Scoop: Have any LSC schools been recruiting you? Do you have a favorite?

KS: West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico are both recruiting me and both bring great things to the table in their own ways.

Scoop: Eastern New Mexico? That's interesting, they've been one of the few option teams remaining. Do you run the option well, or are they changing their offensive scheme?

KS: From what I was told they are changing to the spread offense. That's why I would fit in so well, and also be the first true spread QB recruit.

Scoop: How about your teammates? Who's going to be playing college ball, and where are they going?

KS: My go-to guy Isaac Camacho is being recruited some, but I am not really sure where he is leaning towards just yet.

Scoop: Any advice for guys coming up next year on how to prepare themselves for college, both on the field and in the classroom?

KS: As on the field goes, just play your game and don't let anything change your style. Don't try and do to much and most of all, HAVE FUN!In the classroom, you have to make the grades and score good either on your ACT or SAT, because it could come down to academics determining who gets a scholarship to continue playing at the college level.

Thanks Kevin, best of luck to you in the future.

Good story from the Times News Record

Link to the Times News Record

I’ve watched Lonn Reisman, the fine Tarleton State coach, and Rick Cooper at West Texas A&M “work” officials 10 minutes before a game and remain in a ref’s ear until the buzzer sounds. Their “MO” is to whine and moan and complain about every non-call or call that goes against them. It’s a show, and only the better officials get it.

Ten Questions - Bryan Ehrlich QB San Antonio Madison

10 Questions with Bryan Ehrlich

(The first in what we hope is a sustained series spotlighting recruits who might be getting overlooked. This Q&A was done over the Christmas break, but we waited until recruiting season is at its peak.)

The San Antonio Madison Mavericks improved on a 5-5 2006 record by going 13-2 and a spot in the 5A semi-finals. One of the stars of the team was QB Bryan Ehrlich, who completed 56% of his passes, for 1,964 yds, 24 TDs and only 9 Ints.

Christmas has just passed, and the new year is almost upon us. We were fortunate enough to catch Bryan in between the holidays for a few questions.

Scoop: You leave Madison after an outstanding season last fall. What do you think your lasting memories of your high school career will be?

Bryan Ehrlich (BE): The outstanding teamwork that our team had to go through to reach the state semi- finals. Our team had a lot of bumps in the road, but we just kept playing to the best or our ability.

BE: It was tough to see two great players go down. Not only were they great on the field, but they both happened to be two of my best friends. I told the team that with our two starting runningbacks out, everybody else had to step up and do the little things right if we want to make a deep run into the playoffs. As it turned out everybody rose to the ocassion and we accomplished a lot of things that many people thought we couldn't.

Scoop: Did you believe you had a realistic chance to overcome a 21 pt deficit in the fourth quarter against Smithson Valley in the Region IV final? What kept the team from giving up? In your wildest dreams, would you have dreamt 4 TD passes in one quarter? How did you feel after the game?

BE: We never lost doubt in any game this season. Even when we were down by 30 to Katy we just kept on fighting. Against SV I walked the sidelines trying to think of something to say to our team to keep them from giving up. Then I started to look at them and noticed they were just as pumped as I was. So I told the team that I knew that I could count on them (they had proven that to me) and it was time for everybody to put their full belief in what I was doing out there. They laughed and told me that they always had. Then in the 4th quarter we came out firing and I just made enough plays to win the game. Coach asked me to throw the ball and I did; yea the 4 td's was awesome, but winning the ball game in OT was probably one of the best things that I have ever been apart of in my life. After the game I was rushed by reporters and I couldn't help but scream into the microphone as they kept asking their questions. As I walked off of that field that day, tears started dripping from my eyes, I couldn't have been any happier than that.

Scoop: You didn't have this problem much last year - losses. How do you deal with setbacks? What was tougher, the 3 point loss to Judson (on a FG as time expired) or the 66-21 loss to Katy in the state semifinals?

BE: I play every game to win. Their is one thing that I hate more than anything in life; losing. I will never tolerate it and it doesn't matter how many points you lost by or to what team. Both losses were devastating because I told our team before the season started that we were going to be 16-0 and State Champs. Being the QB I know now that there was things that I could have done differently in both games, but God has a reason for everything; and those two days were just days that were in his plan.

Scoop: Who was the best player you saw this year on an opposing team? Do you study what they do on the field that makes them successful?

BE: I think there was two people that I didn't want to see anywhere near a ball I threw. Trent Hunter from Katy, and Dominick Maddox from Jusdon. I though Trent was just a flat out athlete. We watched so much film that I could almost tell you every exact way that he could intercept a pass. He has good speed and average size, but his athleticism put him above a lot of people. Then Maddox was just a raw athlete who could take a pic to the house, or lay the wood to you. When we watched film on him I could count the number of kids that he had shaken up badly from hits. He has great coverage ability and great recovery speed. I don't think too many people would want to go head up with him.

Scoop: If I'm a coach, why would I want a person like you on my team? What are your best qualities?

BE: I am a true leader, and I do things on and off the field correctly and with manners to others. Anywhere I go I want to win. I don't care if it's a school that went 12-0 or 0-12, I know that I bring something to the table that will help either team. I'm not the fastest guy in the world but my pocket prescense is tremendous, and my best ability is giving the ball to our best play makers. I don't care if it's a shovel pass, a handoff, or just a dropback pass where I have to throw it 60 yards. I will put any team in a great position to win.

Scoop: What player, college or pro, do you play most like?

BE: I think I have the scrappy abilty that Brett Favre has. He doesn't always put up the huge numbers, but he always makes enough plays to win the game. He is a great manager of the game, and I think I have the same ability to look at a defense, and be able to put our team in the best possible play to succeed.

Scoop: Have you decided on a major for college? What kind of career would you like to have.

BE: I think am going to major in business. My dad owns a construction business so it could be a great possibilty for me to work for him and one day take his company over. Or on the other hand if my football career extended past the college ranks then I would know how and what to do with my money.

Scoop: Have any LSC schools been recruiting you? Do you have a favorite?

BE: Midwestern St. gave me a call once. I havn't heard from them since so I don't know whats going on. I do not have a favotite. I don't like to follow certain teams because I do not care what college I go to. I know whoever gives me that one chance will have a hardworking QB on there hands.

Scoop: Any advice for guys coming up next year on how to prepare themselves for college, both on the field and in the classroom?

BE: Keeping your grades up is imperitive to being a student athlete. There's a couple of people that I know that are not able to go D- I because of there academic problems. I always knew that if I kept my grades up, that would give a great chance at playing college ball. I strived to be in NHS and I am now a member, so anything extra that you can do would be a positive. While studying is important, I think on the field and in the weight room, you have to buy in to the team concept. Nothing is done with an I, because there is no I in TEAM. I was able to look people square in the eyes and they would know that no matter what I was about to tell them, it would be for the best to them and our team. When people have faith in you and what you do, you are able to lead to where there is no limits. And outside of that you have to wear your body down as far as you possibly can before you can begin to get better. Putting your body through hell every day of the offseason is what it takes to become successful.
