LSC Basketball Power Poll

Bronchos in the top spot of the initial 2007-8 LSCScoop Basketball Power Poll

  1. 11-4 UCO - (6-1 in crossover play) OT loss to Tarleton only blemish in crossover play.
  2. 13-2 Tarleton (5-2) Commerce loss is a headscratcher.
  3. 12-3 SWO - (5-2) Look to be a cinch for a North tournament spot
  4. 11-4 Angelo St (4-3) Surprise team along with ACU; They have not been strong in divisional play in recent years (4-8, 0-12, 4-8, 2-10 the last 4 years)
  5. 12-2 Abilene (5-2) beat SWO by 21, lost to ECU by 16; weak non-conference schedule making Wildcats look better than they really are? They were 9-5 LY before divisional play.
  6. 10-5 WTAM (5-2) Starting to peak just a divisional play starts
  7. 11-4 TAMK (4-3) Sure to fall out of national polls after losing two in OK by 18 and 17
  8. 9-5 East Central (3-4) Won 5 of last 7
  9. 7-7 Northeastern St (3-4) High points so far - beat ASU by 24, TAMK by 18
  10. 8-6 Midwestern St (4-3) had 6 game winning streak, don't like physical teams
  11. 5-10 TAMC (2-5) Not finishing games; Inconsistent (Beat Tarleton by 20)
  12. 6-9 ENMU (3-4) Have won 4 of last 6 though.
  13. 2-12 Cameron (0-7) Margin of defeat less than SEO in crossover games. Beat Rhema Bible and Panhandle State
  14. 3-12 SEO (0-7) Only wins over Rogers, Missouri Western, Oklahoma Christian

Seems ACU should have been ranked a tad higher, eh? No. 21 in this week's national poll, behind only Southwestern, a team they dominated, in the LSC. No other LSC team made the top 25.
(Though Tarleton and Kingsville did get a few votes)

Maybe, but their early schedule was not very strong, and they have not fared well in divisional play recently. They will move up if they show they are not a fluke.

I agree ... but shooting at almost 54 percent as a team, it shouldn't matter who they're playing.
They've got the best backcourt in the LSC (I know, my opinion) and with a forward (Dejan Sencanski) that can stroke a three as well as he can dunk, ACU has just got too many weapons. Looks to me like the surge that hit the football team last year is now hitting men's basketball.

The Saturday matchup vs. Angelo State should be a good one.

Angelo will be tested this week - WTAM and Abilene.

Ditto Commerce in the North - UCO and ECU.

The LSC is way down overall as a whole. None of these teams could stay with Southeastern OK and Midwestern team's from (2006-07). Watch and see it proved in the Regional Tournament. Don't worry, you still got football..Oh maybe you don't

We'll see...No one in the MIAA stands out.

As the MIAA teams beat up on each other, the South Central tourney will be held in on an LSC campus.

Actually in response to MIAA, the LSC is actually way up in comparison to year's past. Look at the south. ACU and Angelo have been league door mats the last couple season and both are poised to have good runs this year. TAMUK (12-4) & WTAM (11-5) are always threats & TARLETON looks to have regained their form starting off season (14-2).
