MUSTANGS EXPECT IMMEDIATE IMPACT FROM TRANSFER SARPY
WICHITA FALLS, Texas –

Midwestern State Jeff Ray announced Quincy Sarpy will transfer to MSU for the 2008-09 season.

The 6-4, 205-pound guard will complete his final season of eligibility with the Mustangs after spending a season at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.

“Q is a very athletic wing player that is big enough to post up with smaller players on him,” Ray said. “He is a good 3-point shooter and a very good defender and rebounder. He will make an immediate impact for our team.”

Sarpy joins fellow transfers Craig Green and Anthony Moore, who each attended NJCAA Metro Athletic Conference champion Brookhaven College last season.

Sarpy appeared in nine games at Gardner Webb last season while averaging 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds in 7.7 minutes a contest.

Prior to attending Gardner Webb, he led Collin County Community College in scoring his sophomore year and showed all-around game while averaging 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Sarpy scored 16.7 points per game at the 2007 Global Games in Dallas, including a 20-point effort against Argentina.

He is a graduate of West Mesquite High School, where he earned all-region honors as a senior and was rated as one of the state’s top 100 senior prospects by TexasHoops.com in 2004-05.

Midwestern State finished with a 13-13 mark in 2007-08 after advancing to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional for the third time in Ray’s 10-year tenure in 2007.

MUSTANGS ADD A PAIR OF JUNIOR COLLEGE STANDOUTS

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -

Midwestern State coach Jeff Ray announced the additions of Craig Green and Anthony Moore from Brookhaven College as transfers for the 2008-09 season.

The pair helped Brookhaven to a 26-5 mark and finished ranked No. 7 in the final NJCAA ranking last season.

The Bears cracked the century mark 18 times and claimed a share of the Metro Athletic Conference championship before falling to Northlake 98-89 in the conference title game.

Green, a 6-2 guard from Keller High School, claimed MAC MVP recognition after averaging 20.6 points per game after shooting 51.5 percent (231-of-449) from the field and 73.9 percent (119-of-161) from the free-throw line.

"Craig is a very capable scorer at over 20 points per game," Ray said. "He shoots the 3, but also scores off of the dribble as evidenced by making 119 free throws last year."

Green connected on 58 of his 152 3-point attempts this season for a 38.2-percent success rate.
Moore earned first-team All-Region V accolades after averaging 13.3 points per game.

"Anthony is a great rebounder and defender," Ray said. "He is a very skilled passer and he can score. Both of these young men are great kids and come from a winning program."

The 6-3 guard from Southlakes, Va. shot 59.3-percent from the field (152-for-256) during the 2007-08 season.

The Mustangs finished with a 13-13 mark last season after advancing to the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals for the third time in Ray's tenture in 2007.
