Clarification...we noted earlier that Northeastern State would be playing North Dakota in football this fall. The game is scheduled for next season (2010) not this fall. Sorry for the mistake.
Two arrested in stabbing case!
Authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with the stabbing of two East Central University football players.
Travis Tiger, 27, Wewoka, was arrested Monday on suspicion of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Tyler Hodges, 19, Wewoka, was arrested Friday on suspicion of accessory after the fact, according to Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian.
Authorities allege Tiger stabbed Keewan King and Tyrone Gibbs at the C-4 Bar north of Ada during a fight March 12.
King and Gibbs were taken to a local hospital by private vehicle. Gibbs was treated and released while King was admitted and remains hospitalized.
Hodges is free on a $50,000 bond while Tiger remains in jail on a $500,000 bond. The complete story will be available in Wednesday's edition of Ada Evening News.
Feeling the energy
Ada — After feeling a tingle of excitement leading up to the first spring camp of his second tour as East Central University’s football coach, Tim McCarty got to feel a buzz during Monday’s first spring practice.
“There was a lot of energy out there,” McCarty said following the Tigers’ fast-paced, high-energy two-hour session in windy conditions. “For the first day, I was pleasantly surprised.
“The thing that surprised me was the willingness to execute at a high level,” he said. “These kids want to excel, and that’s pleasing as a coach.”
