Earned Access will likely rear its ugly head in the SE region. Valdosta let a win against Delta State slip away two weeks ago, while UNA beat them 28-17 last week.
1:00 - #21 Mesa State at #4 Chadron State
Undefeated teams face off in a game that will almost certainly decide the RMAC championship. Danny Woodhead is doubtful for the game. A one-loss Mesa State may fall out of playoff contention, while Chadron likely could weather a loss.
2:00 - #19 Abilene Christian at #10 Tarleton State
While this matchup lost a little luster with ACU's loss to WTAM last week, it certainly raised the stakes for the Wildcats. Simply put, they cannot afford another loss this season, and must close out the season against Midwestern State, which is in the same predicament. For Tarleton, the motivation is to stay unbeaten, improve its regional ranking and if they survive this week, square off against WTAM in the final week in a match of unbeatens.
Another game of interest, but not webcast is the Washburn at Northwest Missouri contest. A Washburn win would solidy their playoff chances and could drop NWMSU down several spots in the regional rankings. A win by NWMSU probably keeps them in the #2 spot (unless Mesa State wins, then they're #1), though they might get edged out if Chadron and WT/Tarleton winner is undefeated at season's end - also a NWMSU win almost certainly eliminates a 3 loss Ichabod squad. You're right. They hired the compliance officer one day BEFORE the letter arrived. Not sure how 2 days difference makes much of a point.
This can be easily seen by going to bronchosports.com and noting that Tami Peck - the new Compliance Officer - was hired August 1, the day before the letter was served to UCO (August 2). Coincidence?

Since Scoop claims to be so connected to LSC Schools, maybe you should check with one of them to see how long it takes to get somebody hired at a state institution, especially if it is a new position. The coincidence that her start date was near the date NCAA wrote a letter is merely a coincidence. Plus, remember the date on a letter is not the date it appears in your mail. All that aside, you say UCO didn't even have a compliance officer before Peck. Again not true. She is the first-ever FULL TIME compliance officer, not the first-ever person with that duty. You guys do some crack research, I tell ya.

Right, the UCO site says first-ever director of athletic compliance, which is an exact title for a newly created FULL TIME position. Your story reported they'd never had a compliance officer before her, which is not true.
Splitting hairs or not, real people are being misinformed by your efforts.
Then again, it's easy to not care if what you say is accurate, true or verified when nobody really knows who is saying it anyway. Perhaps this really why you won't put your name on your work.

We will not post baseless rumors. We do not post suspicions or uncorraborated rumors. If it appears in a news story, not a commentary or editorial, we will presume it to be credible. If you believe the information to be incorrect, and can provide us with evidence that it is incorrect, we would be happy to post a new story with any corrected information.
If you have no evidence or proof that anything posted is untrue, we will stand with what is posted.
So who handled compliance before?
uco has the biggest enrollment and one of if the biggest athletic budget. Why wouldn't they have a full-time compliance officer before this mess?
man, ya'll finally got some comments going. it is true they did compliance, just not someone's sole job. the volleyball coach Boyland was compliance guy. before him, the previous volleyball coach Herin was compliance guy.
Actually I think the previous AD did most of the compliance himself. All these problems started when he left. If you want to look at coincidence on dates, he announced his retirement right after UCO hired Langston.
That may all be true, but I doubt we can verify it, so we won't post it.

For the Broncho apologist, I guess you will be telling us that UCO is blameless.
You keep complaining about what is and isn't true, but you offer no proof to back up your complaints. Put up or shut up.
Funny stuff. I get blasted for not providing proof with my complaint that Scoop is publishing stories that make statements without obtaining proof to back up those statements. Irony? Scoop is the one communicating to the world at-large with its own blog, so Scoop should be the one to find proof before publishing its own stories. I am not publishing a story; I'm disputing their ability to do it.
But I questioned three things Scoop said in its UCO story. One was their accusation UCO hired Peck because of the NCAA stuff and their misstatement that she was first compliance person at UCO. Looks like most agree they were wrong on that one. Two was them saying Kelvin Sampson recommended Langston. He actually recommended Evans the basketball coach. Three was them saying UCO is facing the biggest list of NCAA recruiting infractions in D2 history. First of all, their biggest accused violation (the 80 players tuition) isn't even for recruiting. The coaches and players had nothing to do with it. Scoop said they looked up listing of major infractions at NCAA website and nothing compared. Well, nothing UCO has done has even been classified as major yet, so no telling how much of this will ever end up on that listing. That won't be known until December.
Anyways we will see in December. Until then, if anyone should be required to obtain proof, it is the ones publishing stories, not the ones reading them.
Wow, sounds like the NCAA should better start looking into the UCO basketball team.

Stop splitting hairs and realize UCO screwed up BIGTIME, and is about to get body slammed by the NCAA.
Just because someone does compliance, that doesn't make them the compliance officer. When those duties are left to a coach or an assistant, there's no telling what will happen - intentionally or not. That's why schools need someone that takes care of that and that alone. No one said that the infractions caused the hire ... but the lack of a previous hire certainly helped contribute to the infractions.
Oh, in short ... get a grip. UCO is screwed for the next five years or more thanks to this thing, and those responsible need to be held accountable.
