Trujillo To Take Over Javelina Women's Basketball

From Tyler Garrett - KRIS TV

KINGSVILLE - Early Friday afternoon sources confirmed to me that Michael Trujillo would be named the new Texas A&M-Kingsville Head Women's Basketball Coach early next week.

Trujillo has been an NCAA Division I assistant coach for the past eight years and began his career as a student assistant for the women's basketball program at Northern Arizona. He spent the last four years at Texas State where he was a part of one Southland Conference regular season championship team that made an appearance in the WNIT. He spent one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater Northern Arizona and three seasons at Sam Houston State. At all three schools, he was directly involved in recruiting and on-court coaching.

He will replace Scott Hyland who served as the Javelinas head coach for four seasons compiling a 44-64 career record. He posted a pair of winning seasons in 2008-09 and 2009-10, the first for the program since going 27-7 and making the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2000-01.
