With several states, the Pacific Ocean and a total distance of 3,711 miles separating Tarleton State University and Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii, it’s no wonder the two schools have never squared off on the hardwood. Recently, however, they did battle in an ongoing recruiting war, splitting a pair of transfers both coveted highly.
Mohamed Tangara, a 6-9 center, chose Chaminade over Tarleton last month, transferring from NCAA Division I Arizona to the school that has an average attendance of approximately 100 and is best known for hosting the Maui Invitational.
Tarleton rebounded from the loss of Tangara by signing versatile 6-7 power forward Jeremiah Wilson, who transfers from Casper College in Casper, Wyo. Wilson was also strongly considering Chaminade, but ended his official visit to Tarleton by signing his transfer papers before leaving for the airport and the journey home.
