With that many newcomers, Cooper expected it would take awhile before the Buffs would jell.
That time frame seems to have ended.
The Buffs (9-4) enter tonight's Lone Star Conference crossover road game at the Northeastern State Riverhawks (6-5) owning a three-game win streak and victories in eight of their last nine games.
"We have a lot of new kids," Cooper said. "When you do that, there is a learning curve. For us, it wasn't quite steep enough at times. We lost a few games early, arguably we shouldn't have lost because we were figuring out our roles. We are beginning to figure that out."

Lady Buffs seek ninth straight winThe West Texas A&M Lady Buffs will go after their ninth straight women's basketball win today as they try to reach 15-1 for the first time in 13 years.
To accomplish that goal, they will have to beat a Northeastern State team that has won four straight games and is 10-3. And they will have to do it on the road at Dobbins Fieldhouse in Tahlequah, Okla.
Lady Buffs head coach Krista Gerlich will be facing the Riverhawks for the second time at Tahlequah. Two years ago, WT won there in overtime, 66-60. The Lady Buffs' last loss there was in 2006 under former head coach Bob Schneider.
"Playing Northeastern State is always a tough game," said Gerlich, who enters this game with a career record of 96-17 (85 percent). "Playing them on the road is especially tough because they are an outstanding team and the games against these teams usually are close and down to the wire."
