"After submitting the letter of interest, Northeastern State University found that the MIAA, and its membership, seems to share philosophies that are congruent to our future institutional goals and objectives, both academically and athletically. Therefore, we have submitted a formal application to be considered for membership. The University is still exploring several options concerning athletics conference affiliation but at this time, we felt it necessary to take the next step with the MIAA and continue our review of what that league could offer this institution."

TULSA (July 14) – Central Oklahoma’s Andrew Green came up short in his bid to win the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship here Wednesday, falling in the finals of the three-day event at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
A junior-to-be from Edmond, Green won five matches in the 64-player tournament to advance to the championship match before suffering a 5&4 setback to Stephen Carney. Green was also runner-up in this tournament two years ago.
Green made it to the afternoon finals with a 2&1 semifinal victory Wednesday morning over Robbe Trout. That match was all square through eight holes, but Green took the lead for good by winning the par-4 ninth hole with a birdie.
The two tied he next five holes before Green went 2-up by winning the 14th hole with a par and the match ended two holes later.
Green never led in the title match, falling behind two holes early before winning back-to-back holes on Nos. 5 and 6 to get even. Carney went on to take a 2-up lead after nine holes and put the match away by winning Nos. 12, 13 and 14.

Nick Dobler had always been Kansas to the core.
He grew up in Topeka, Kan., he went to Independence Community College – located in Independence, Kan. – and he was set to join the NCAA Division I ranks by transferring to Kansas State.
However, things didn't pan out in Manhattan, Kan., prompting Dobler to leave the Sunflower State to head south. He landed in Oklahoma at Northeastern State – and it's a move that's worked out for all parties.
“He was a captain and a great player in the Kansas junior college league in Independence,” said NSU coach Kenny Evans. “And after things didn’t work out the way he wanted them to at Kansas State, he transferred in right before the fall in 2009 and was a pleasant surprise.”
