NCAA places UCO on three years probation

On Wednesday, the NCAA Division II Committee on infractions announced that the University of Central Oklahoma was placed on three years probation for rules violations by the football program. In addition to the three year probation, there will be an additional reduction of 2 scholarships this academic year, as well as a reduction of 4 scholarships during the 08-09 and 09-10 academic years, and the football team cannot appear on television from Feb. 20, 2008-Feb 19, 2010.

A two-year "show cause" order coach Chuck Langston was imposed as well. Any school wanting to hire Langston for an athletic-related position must appear before the infractions committee to determine whether his duties should be limited.

Does anyone think that the punishment doesn't fit the crime here. C'mon this is a hand slap if I ever heard of one.

yes. This is totally ridiculous. If I'm an LSC Team I'm doing all of this TOMORROW.

The Scoop had the penalties pretty much dead on. Even the Show-Cause prediction on Coach Langston.

Great job as always guys!

All this does is open up the door for everyone to start cheating. Hell, if there are no consequences, why not break the rules.
