LSC partners with Fox Sports Southwest

The Lone Star Conference has signed a partnership with Fox Sports Southwest, which will put the league on the regional sports network’s television and web streaming platforms throughout the 2012 calendar year.
As part of the one-year agreement, the LSC will receive television advertising, a quarterly television show and live web streaming.  The three-part approach aims to raise awareness of the LSC and its signature events while strategically enhancing the league’s visibility.
“This partnership with Fox Sports Southwest is another in a series of moves aimed at increasing exposure for the Lone Star Conference and its member schools,” LSC commissioner Stan Wagnon said. “The FSN regional model, and specifically the footprint for Fox Southwest, aligns nicely with the various audiences we are trying to reach.”
“More than just being a good match, we think the association with Fox Sports Southwest will elevate the way our brand is perceived, as it puts us alongside the premier sports programs in this region that Fox Southwest regularly covers.”
Fox Southwest is widely known for its regular coverage of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Stars, as well as the Big 12 Conference, Conference USA and the Texas high school championships.
Viewers who tune in to upcoming Mavericks and Stars broadcasts can expect to see an advertising campaign promoting the 2012 LSC Basketball Championship, set for February 29-March 4 in Allen, Texas, as the partnership rolls out.  Additional spots will be aired this summer during Texas Rangers games with a second campaign pushing the league’s 2012 Lone Star Football Festival, a two-day, six-game event September 14-15.
The LSC and Fox Southwest will partner to produce four 30-minute magazine-style television shows highlighting the league, with original programming scheduled to air during the weeks of February 20, May 21, August 27 and December 10.  The shows also will re-air twice during the time period.
An online presence will round out the partnership, with FoxSportsSouthwest.com becoming the exclusive web streaming home of 16 dates of live LSC competition.  The events include six basketball doubleheaders, the LSC basketball championship semifinals, and LSC Softball and Baseball championship games this spring.  In the fall, five football games along with the LSC Volleyball Championship match will be streamed.
“The web streaming initiative excites me because it provides the opportunity for new people to be exposed to our contests,” Wagnon said. “FoxSportsSouthwest.com has a proven readership that visits their site each day, so these streams provide a chance to place our product right underneath their nose instead of relying on our ability to attract new visitors the LSC website or member school sites. I think Fox Southwest website patrons will be pleased with the level of competition and entertainment they find the Lone Star Conference.”
The web streaming gets started this Saturday evening as Tarleton State hosts Midwestern State in a showdown of league leaders for both men’s and women’s basketball.
The collaboration provides unique opportunities and advertising for the LSC in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex along with tools to make strides in the area of web streaming.  Additionally, the regional sports network carries a strong presence throughout the conference’s footprint.
