LSC Scoop Recruiting Spotlight - Grady Young

Another prospect for LSC schools looking for offensive linemen is Grady Young.  Grady is a 6-5, 280 lb senior at Mercedes Early College Academy, who has played every spot on the line, with the exception of center.  Mercedes qualified for the playoffs, dropping a first round contest to eventual 4-A semifinalist Calallen.  For the season, the Tigers played a balanced offense, rushing for 144.5 yards per game and throwing for 166.5.  For his efforts, Young was named second team all district and second team All-Valley.
Grady was the leader of the line, and his coaches turned to him before games to motivate the unit, pushing  them to perform at a high level.  As the season progressed, the improvement was noticeable, with Mercedes winning their last three games to take the district's final playoff spot.
In addition to football, he is also a member of the powerlifting team.  Last year he was named most improved on the team.
When finished at Mercedes Early College Academy, Grady will graduate with both his high schoold degree and an associates degree.  He is currently ranked 17th in his class and maintains a 3.7 GPA.  He has been nominated for academic All-American honors.
Grady has been in contact with Abilene Christian and Texas A&M-Kingsville as well as a couple of FCS schools, but has yet to name a favorite.
