LSC Scoop Recruiting Spotlight - Stephen Brauchle

Special teams are often overlooked, but play a vital part to a team's success (just look at Fiesta and Sugar Bowls for recent proof).  So it's only natural that punters and kickers are not at the top of most team's recruiting lists, but sometimes top-notch players are totally overlooked.
Case in point - Stephen Brauchle. The senior from Gulfport Mississippi was a first team All-State selection, and according to Maxpreps is the #6 senior nationally in  punting average(46.49 avg), while registering 48 touchbacks on 53 kickoffs.  He certainly looks like a player that can help a team in the all important field position battle. Stephen is also carrying a 3.0 GPA, and scored a 21 on his ACT, so academics are not an issue.
Currently, Stephen has offers from 5 Mississippi junior colleges, but no offers from four year schools.  Mississippi high schools are out of our normal recruiting focus, but we came across Stephen by a tip from one of our readers and are surprised that no school has scoop him up.  We hope to see him in the LSC in the near future.

Also see Scout.com story here.
*** ESPN recruiting has Stephen ranked as the nation's #68 kicker (profile)(complete list) - "Stephen is a very talented kicker and Punter. He has shown great potential in both Punts and FG's. He showed collegiate promise at the 2011 Kohl's National Scholarship camp as finished in the top 40 in KO's and Punts and in the top 20 in FG's."

Other Honors received:
Ranked 28th in the nation on Prokicker.com

Ranked 54th best Punter by Kohlskicking
