KINGSVILLE, TEXAS---Ron Harms, who served as head football coach at Texas A&I and Texas A&M-Kingsville for 21 years between 1979 and 1999, has been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.  The induction is set for July 20-21 in South Bend, Ind.

Harms becomes the seventh Javelina to be inducted into the Hall.  During most of his time as head football coach, he also served as athletic director.  Harms was offensive coordinator for the Javelinas in 1974 and 1975 and during that time, the Javelinas went 25-0, won two national championships and captured two Lone Star conference titles.

He had an outstanding record as head coach of the Javelina program, his times compiling a 172-72 record.  His 1979 team won the NAIA national championship and 11 of his squads took LSC titles.  The 1994 Javelinas reached the NCAA Division II national title game and the 1988, 1993, 1995 and 1998 squads advanced into the national semifinals.

Other Javelinas in the College Football Hall of Fame are coach Gil Steinke and players Johnny Bailey, Darrell Green, Dwayne Nix, John Randle and Richard Ritchie.  He was the head coach while Bailey, Green and Randle were players.
