No. 7 Lions roll to 49-10 win at Eastern New Mexico to open conference play
The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce football team jumped out to a big early lead and used a strong defensive performance to earn a 49-10 win over Eastern New Mexico at Greyhound Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions move to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Greyhounds are now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

No. 12 Mustangs rally past Texas A&M-Kingsville, 32-30
Senior Tanner Graeber's 18-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining lifted 12th-ranked Midwestern State to a 32-30 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night at Javelina Stadium.
The Mustangs, who improved to 2-0 on the season by winning their Lone Star Conference opener, welcome Oklahoma Panhandle State for Family Day next Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
MSU overcame a 15-3 halftime deficit by scoring on its first two possessions of the second half as sophomore Vincent Johnson scampered 36 yards to cap a 5-play, 69-yard drive.

Defensive showcase lifts Texans over Rams in LSC opener
When Lone Star Conference play rolls around, all Todd Whitten knows how to do is win.
The trend continued for Whitten and Tarleton as the Texans throttled Angelo State 35-5 in its LSC opener on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Whitten improves to 7-0 in LSC openers at Tarleton.
The Texan defense was dominant from start to finish, limiting the Rams offense to only 222 yards, forcing five turnovers and recorded five sacks. It's the first time since 2009 that Tarleton has held an LSC opponent under 10 points (Abilene Christian in a 13-6 win).
With both teams only managing a field goal through the first two and a half quarters, the Texan offense gained momentum thanks to a huge defensive play by Taylor Massey. Massey blocked an Angelo State punt that gave Tarleton the ball at the Rams 48 with 41 seconds left in the half. On 2nd-and-10 from the 38, Zed Woerner launched a ball towards the middle of the end zone and hit Bubba Tandy in stride for the touchdown. Hall Accounts for All Six Touchdowns in Mustangs Win Over OPSU
Senior quarterback Javia Hall had himself a day as he passed for four scores and rushed for two more to lead the Western New Mexico University football team past Oklahoma Panhandle State University, 44-21, on Saturday afternoon in Lone Star Conference action at Altamirano Field.
Hall used his escape ability to keep the Aggies (1-2, 0-1 LSC) on their toes all day. He passed for 249 yards, completing 17-25 for his four touchdowns and didn't throw any interceptions. On top of that he added 13 rushing attempts for 62 yards and two touchdowns. He ended up leading the Mustangs in both categories.
The game certainly didn't start out the way WNMU (1-2, 1-1 LSC) wanted, as following a great opening drive that chewed up 70 yards, ended with a blocked field goal that was returned 90 yards by Marcus McCants for the OPSU touchdown and 7-0 lead...Complete Release
Buffs Dominate UT Permian Basin in Lone Star Conference Opener, 48-14
The West Texas A&M football team weathered the elements, both storms and hot weather, downing UT Permian Basin 48-14 at Ratliff Stadium on Sunday. With the win, WT improved to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in Lone Star Conference play, while UTPB fell to 2-1 and 0-1 in league play.
The game was delayed for over two hours before it ever began Saturday evening as severe weather and a tornado warning prompted the delay. Around 9 p.m. Saturday, school officials at both schools decided to play the game Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
WT tallied a season season-high 468 yards of offense in the game, including 361 through the air and 107 on the ground. WT forced three interceptions in the game leading to a 14-7 lead in points off turnovers. Senior Devon Paye had 93 yards rushing on 14 carries, while redshirt freshman Trent Canion had nine yards rushing and his first career touchdown. Junior Ethan Brinkley went 34 of 50 passing for a season-high 356 yards and threw two touchdowns, while sophomore Ben Arbuckle saw his first action in three years going 1 for 2 for five yards and his first career touchdown pass.
