The Lone Star Conference baseball season is underway with several conference match-ups already played. Southeastern Oklahoma is undefeated with a 3-0 conference mark while Cameron and West Texas A&M are close with a league record of 5-1.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTERS
Brad Elders, West Texas A&M University, JR, OF, Amarillo, Texas, Amarillo HS
Elders hit .588 with 10 hits, two doubles and three RBI as the Buffs went 5-0 this past week. WT swept Eastern New Mexico on the road in a big LSC series, followed by a doubleheader sweep of University of the Southwest at home on Feb. 22.
Will Calhoun, Abilene Christian University, SR, OF, Duncanville, Texas, Duncanville HS
The Wildcats got a big weekend from senior left fielder, Will Calhoun, who hit .438 with 5 RBIs and two doubles … the Duncanville native had multiple hits in the final two games of the series along with a non-conference win over the Hilltoppers … Calhoun also picked up a pair of wins on the week in a start over St. Edward’s and in relief against ECU.
PITCHERS
Ryan Turner, Tarleton State University, JR, Closer, North Richland Hills, Texas , Richland HS Turner won two games last week for the Texans out of the bullpen, and made three appearances total out of four contests. Turner picked up just a 1.80 ERA and also earned his second save of the season in Tarleton’s 13-10 victory over 16th-ranked Incarnate Word. He pitched five total innings, gave up just a single run and a single walk while striking out 10 batters. The 6-5 North Richland Hills native has been a constant for the Texans at the end of tight ball games, and leads the team on the season with three wins, two saves, and six appearances.
David Cagle, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, SO, Pitcher, Coalgate, Okla., Coalgate HS Cagle tossed a no-hitter in a 7-0 win in the series finale at Henderson State to help Southeastern to a 2-1 record and a series win over HSU. Cagle’s no-hitter is the 23rd in Southeastern history and the first since the 1999 season. He struck out five and faced 26 hitters, five more than the minimum. He had just one base runner advance past first base in the game.
