LSC Roundup 2-8

McCarty pleased with recruits - Bob Forrest, Ada Evening News
Just one year after signing a life-changing 38-player class that put his program on the map, East Central head football coach Tim McCarty welcomed 30 new recruits to the fold last week. And, while the newest Tigers have a different dynamic than the group that came before them, McCarty said they should help ECU football build on the momentum it gained in 2010.

“These kids we signed have big resumés,” McCarty said. “A lot of them had offers from a lot of schools. WE had to beat out quite a few teams to get them. We felt like we were right-on in terms of our evaluation,” he added. “Now we want to get them on campus and see if it’s a fit for them.”

“This group is different from last year’s,” McCarty explained. “It’s hard to get a guy like (Lawton High quarterback) Cody Miller on a Division II signing list. He was one of the best players in the state. He is a steal for East Central. We got a nice mix of All-State players, and the most important part is we feel like we addressed our needs and our depth,” he said. “Some of these guys will play for us next year as freshmen. There won’t be as many as we used to have, but there will be some — I’m just not sure which ones.”
