LSC Basketball Players of the Week

LSC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Women's

Jessica Hocker, Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Sr., Guard, Spring Hill, Kan./Spring Hill HS

Hocker was a model of consistency for the week, averaging 20.0 ppg, featuring nights of 20 points, 19 points and 21 points in helping SOSU to a 2-1 record last week. She also added 5.0 rpg, and, thanks to an overtime game against Angelo State actually averaged 40.3 minutes per game for the week. From the guard position she shot 65.2 percent from the field and 81.1 percent from the free throw line, going 30-of-37.

LSC South Women's
Emily Brister, West Texas A&M University
Jr., G, Amarillo, Texas/Amarillo HS

Brister racked up a whopping 55 points - including shooting a perfect 16-of-16 from the free throw line - for an average of 27.5 points per game as West Texas A&M collected two wins over Lone Star Conference North opponents. The Lady Buffs beat Central Oklahoma, 73-60, on Thursday then picked up their fifth consecutive win with a 66-60 overtime victory over Northeastern State, in which Brister scored 34 points, more than half of the team's final tally. Her average point tally over the weekend was higher than any other player's total points; additionally, Brister grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists.

LSC North Men's
Terrell Carpenter, East Central University
Sr., Guard, Chicago, Ill./Harlan Community Academy

Carpenter poured in 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, and 8-of-11 from the line in East Central's 82-67 loss to Angelo State. Carpenter also finished with three rebounds, five assists and five steals while playing all 40 minutes of that game. Carpenter also tallied 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting and 4-of-6 from the line in ECU's 86-70 win over Abilene Christian. He also collected four assists and ended up with two steals in that game.

LSC South Men's
Marcus Hubbard, Angelo State University
Sr., Forward, West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes

All-America candidate Marcus Hubbard started his first two games of the year and led the Rams in scoring in both contests. Against Southeastern Oklahoma, he was 14-for-19 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, for 32 points to lead the Rams to a 74-64 win in Durant on Thursday night. At East Central, Hubbard went 8-for-18 from the field, 4-for-11 from beyond the arc, and 2-for-3 from the free-throw line for 22 points with four rebounds as ASU defeated the Tigers, 82-67, on Saturday. For the week, Hubbard was 22-for-37 from the floor, 8-for-18 from three-point range, and 2-for-4 from the charity stripe for a 27.0 average as the Rams defeated SOSU and ECU back-to-back for the first time in five years to improve to 5-2 on the season.
