Truth and (few) consequences

The NCAA's Division II Committee on Infractions announced a week ago the punishment it decided to mete out to the University of Central Oklahoma and its former football coach, Chuck Langston. The school competes in the Lone Star Conference against Abilene Christian and Tarleton State universities.

The NCAA placed Central Oklahoma on three years probation. The football program will lose 10 scholarships during that time, and is banned from telecast opportunities -- including streaming video on the Internet -- during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic years. And while UCO probably got what it deserved, Langston came out of the mess -- one he created -- with little more than a stern rebuke
