Angelo State at Eastern New Mexico - Rams should breeze through this series
Game One - ASU 4-1. Kari Galm improves to 10-1, and Macy Baker hits a HR for the Rambelles.
Game Two - ASU 7-6. ASU rallies for two in the top of the seventh, and Kari Galm pitches two shutout innings in relief for the win.
Game Three - ASU 10-6. See Game 1, except Galm is now 12-1. Baker drives in 4.
Texas Woman's at Abilene Christian - Winner of this series will be in the thick of the race
Game One - ACU 3-2 Two fifth inning HRs (Leisha Johnson and Kim Partin) plated 3 runs and helped ACU overcome a 2 run deficit.
Game Two - ACU 12-0 Kim McDonald only needed one run, but she got a lot more with Melissa Rodriguez's grand slam the big blow.
Game Three - ACU 5-2 TWU is swept as Leisha Johnson hits another HR, and Kim McDonald pitches 5 strong innings.
Texas A&M-Kingsville at West Texas A&M - Winner of the series will be solidly (and surprisingly) in first or second place
Game One - TAMK 2-0. Courtney Rigamonti gets her 3rd straight conference shutout. Julia Canales with a two-run single in the 6th.
Game Two - WTAM 9-0. Andrea Renteria limits TAMK to 3 singles, Audrey Wallace and Kaitlyn Witte each with HRs
Game Three - TAMK 3-1 Rigamonti's LSC streak now at 4, with another complete game. Canales drove in all 3 runs (and all TAMK runs this weekend).
Cameron at Southeastern Oklahoma - Will SEO continue their blistering start?
Game One - SEO 6-3 Marjorie Johnson went 3-3 scoring 2, and driving in one, but struggled from the mound walking 5 in 2+ innings. Kristi Russell and Jami McAdoo pitched 4+ innings of one-hit ball.
Game Two - SEO 15-9 McAdoo and Russell didn't have the same dominance in game two, but didn't need it, as the SEO offense came through. Benita Sanchez drove in 5 runs and Ashley Graham knocked in 3 (both had HRs) to lead the attack.
East Central at Northeastern State - loser will be in the basement
Game One - NSU 3-0 NSU only had 3 hits, but made the most of them, as Melissa Simms hit a HR. Lacee Craig threw a 4 hit shutout.
Game Two - NSU 4-3 Shaelyn Moore scored twice, drove in 3 and hit a walk-off game winning HR.
TOP MATCHUP THIS WEEKEND
GAME ONE - Midwestern State wins it 4-2. MSU jumps out to a 2-0 lead on a two-out double by Ashley Kuchenski in the fourth inning. UCO tied it up in the sixth on a Emilee Bounds two-run single. But in the bottom of the sixth, Ashley Reynolds hits a two-out, two-run homer to put MSU on top for good. Katie Petersen improved to 13-2, with a complete game effort, allowing just 5 hits on the day.
GAME TWO - UCO 5-3. Limited to just 3 hits through 5 innings, UCO broke open a scoreless game with 5 hits and 5 runs in the 6th inning, then held on for the win. Molly Shivers gets the win, allowing just 5 hits and 1 unearned run in six innings, Alli Blake pitched a hitless 7th to get her 5th save. Jodi Craig and Kelsey Tiger each had two hits, a run and an rbi for UCO. Kristen Stonecipher had a two-run HR for MSU.
Central Oklahoma at Midwestern State - So far, these two have lived up to the preseason expectations - near the top of the LSC North. UCO is fourth in batting average, MSU is sixth, but is scoring just over 5 runs per game, while UCO is scoring 4 1/2. MSU's pitching is second in ERA at 1.99, with Katie Petersen leading the way at 8-2 with an ERA of 1.10. UCO is a bit back at 2.73, but Alli Blake has been great at 5-2 with a 1.24 ERA.
