WT, Tarleton post series sweeps - LSC Office
West Texas A&M and Tarleton State jumped to the top of the Lone Star Conference standings with series sweeps in the first week of league play. The Buffs and Texans will face each other this week.
This week’s slate includes non-conference action on Tuesday, followed by a full schedule of league play. Each LSC series includes a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and 9-inning contest Sunday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and receive the league’s automatic qualification into the NCAA postseason. The championship will be played May 5-8 in San Angelo, Texas.
LSC baseball teams are 97-65 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the LSC is currently 36-28 overall including 14-12 combined versus Heartland Conference teams, 20-15 opposed to the Great American Conference and 2-1 against the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

HITTERS
Andy Wolfe, Tarleton State University, SR, CF, Dripping Springs, Texas, Dripping Springs HS
Wolfe led the Texans to a series sweep of Eastern New Mexico as Lone Star Conference action got underway. The senior center fielder batted .733 with a .778 on-base percentage and a .800 slugging percentage. Finishing the week 11-for-15, Wolfe led the team with 10 RBI’s while totaling 12 bases. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.
Patrick Ramirez, West Texas A&M University, SO, Catcher, San Antonio, Texas, Antonian College Prep
Ramirez collected a team-high nine hits on the weekend, while hitting .692 at the plate and helping the Buffs secure its first four-game sweep since April 21-22, 2006. The sophomore catcher went 8-for-12 in his three starts this weekend, and then had a pinch-hit game-winning RBI-single in Sunday’s series finale over the Aggies. For the weekend, Ramirez had a pair of doubles, scored five runs and knocked in nine runs in all. He had a .733 on-base percentage and an .846 slugging percentage as well.
PITCHERS
Jaden Dillon, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, SP, Bridge City, Texas, Bridge City HS
Dillon played a part in wins over #7 St. Mary’s and #4 Angelo State. He was the first of seven pitchers used in a 10-1 win over St. Mary’s and then shut down the Rams in the series opener on Friday. He went 7.0 innings allowing one unearned run, three hits and three walks while striking out six in a 4-1 victory. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 28.2 innings. He held the opposition to a .138 batting average this week.
Marc Gomez, University of the Incarnate Word, SR, Pitcher, Corpus Christi, Texas, Moody HS
Gomez threw a complete game (7 innings) on Saturday in a 5-1 victory over Abilene Christian. He allowed six hits (only one was for extra bases) and one run (earned), but only walked two opponents and struck out an impressive nine batters.
