Of note: The Rambelles, winners of 17 of their last 18 games, will look to
continue their momentum today when they travel to Austin to play regional rival
St. Edward's. ASU is coming off a three-game series sweep of Cameron last
weekend, where they outscored the Aggies 23-3, to start Lone Star Conference
play. As a team, the Belles are hitting .363 this season, led by Elsamartina Apo
at .480. Mary Kate McKay (8-1) and Claire Molina (9-2) are the team's top
pitchers. ASU will play at home again 5 p.m. March 17 against Midwestern
State.
LSC Baseball: Four honored for performances last week
A week of non-conference play remains before Lone Star Conference play begins for the eight league teams.
LSC baseball teams are 76-41 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the LSC is currently 34-22 overall including 12-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams, 20-15 opposed to the Great American Conference and 2-1 against the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

HITTERS
Alex Schultz, Eastern New Mexico University, SR, Shortstop, Tempe, Ariz, Mountain HS/E. Arizona College
Schultz batted .571 for the week and posted a .929 slugging percentage, with two doubles and five runs batted in. He belted a three-run homer against Cameron and went two-for-four in a win over 27th-ranked Abilene Christian. He started at shortstop in all four games and played error-free defense.
Lee Neumann, Angelo State University, JR, Center field, Brenham, Texas, Brenham HS
Neumann provided the spark in the Rams’ 7-4 series finale win over Central Oklahoma with a three-run home run to add to another strong week at the plate for the junior this season. Neumann finished the five-game week for the Rams with six RBI, a double, triple and .313 batting average. He also stole two bases and had a .688 slugging percentage for the 8th-ranked Rams.
PITCHERS
Pete Perez, Tarleton State University, JR, RHP, Sacramento, Calif., River City HS
Perez tossed an eight-inning shut out with 10 strikeouts as the Texans defeated Cameron Friday night in Abilene. Against the Aggies, Perez gave up just four hits and two walks while fanning 10 batters as he improves his record to 2-1 on the season. Perez also held batters to a .133 average.
Austin Palmer, Abilene Christian University, JR, LHP, Folsom, Calif., Folsom HS
Palmer captured his first victory of 2012 behind a three-hit, 8.0 inning effort vs. Tarleton State in the Sunday night finale of the ACU/Whitten Inn Classic. The Wildcats won the game 6-1. Palmer was a little shaky to start the game by walking three in the first two innings, but was close to perfect the rest of the way in allowing just one base runner over his last five. His lone blemish late in the game was a two-out double off the bat of Garrett Hardey, who was left stranded at third when Jonathan Schmitz struck out looking to end the sixth. Palmer finished the game with five strikeouts, and after 108 pitches, turned the game over to Josh Stone in the ninth.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Trent Wagner, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, led the Javelinas to a 2-1 week against Northwood. He walked, stole a base and had a sacrifice bunt in the opening 4-0 win. He went 5-for-7 in a doubleheader split on Saturday. He was 2-for-3 with a triple, stolen base, run and an RBI in a 10-8 loss. In the final game of the series he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, two stolen bases and an RBI. He has yet to commit an error in centerfield this year.
Ethan Stuckly, Tarleton State University, recorded a .455 average, a .909 slugging percentage and 10 total bases in Tarleton’s three games this past weekend in Abilene. The senior infielder had team-highs with five hits, three RBI’s, and picked up his first triple and home run of the season. Stuckly recorded a hit in all three contests, including two against Cameron and two against Eastern New Mexico.
Jaden Dillon, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, improved to 3-0 on the season with 5.0 shutout innings against Northwood in a 4-0 win on Friday. He only allowed one hit and two walks while striking out eight. He dropped his season ERA to 1.11 and is holding opponents to a .114 batting average.
Michael Lange, Angelo State University, started last week by going 5.2 innings in a 2-0 win over Texas A&M International where he had a no-hitter going through 5.1 innings. Lange (2-0) went on to pitch in two games in relief for the Rams during their series win over Central Oklahoma. He finished the week with seven strikeouts and limiting opponents to a .125 batting average in 7.2 innings of work.
Gabriel Hemmer, Eastern New Mexico University, limited 27th-ranked Abilene Christian to two runs on four hits over seven complete innings. His performance propelled the Greyhounds to a 6-2 victory.
