conference at 11-1 with Tarleton State (10-2) and West Texas A&M (7-2) just
a game back.
LSC volleyball teams are 122-101 overall this season. The
squads are currently 10-17 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
teams, and 10-11 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

OFFENSIVE
Marcela Alves, Texas Woman’s University, JR, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pinheiro Guimaraes
Alves helped the Pioneers to two wins over the weekend with a team best 32 kills, .491 hitting percentage, six total blocks and 35.5 points. She led both games in kills including a career-high 21 against Incarnate Word on Friday. Alves posted a .643 hitting percentage against the Cardinals (21 kills and 3 errors on 28 attempts) and then hit .333 against Texas A&M-Kingsville (11 kills and 2 errors on 27 attempts) on Saturday. She also led the team at the net with six total blocks.
Jennie Loerch, Abilene Christian University, FR, Georgetown, Texas, Georgetown HS
Loerch recorded some of the best offensive performances of her young career this past weekend, which helped lead the Wildcats to consecutive 3-0 wins over Eastern New Mexico and No. 8 West Texas A&M. Loerch began the week with a 14 kill outing (.333 attack percentage) in a 3-2 loss to Dallas Baptist, but then produced 10 kills on 23 attempts (.391) in the win over the Zias, and later stunned the Lady Buffs as she racked up 15 kills on 38 attempts (.316). Loerch’s offensive numbers (kills, points, attempts) against West Texas were all season highs for her in a three-set match. Overall, Loerch hit .340 for the week and led her club with 39 kills. She also finished second overall to teammate Sara Oxford in points, 44 to 42. Defensively, Loerch gave her side 1.18 digs per set and four blocks (2 solo, 2 assists).

Michaela Spicer, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SO, Katy, Texas, Katy HS
Spicer played a key role in helping A&M-Commerce to a perfect 3-0 record over the weekend, recording sweeps over Henderson State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Incarnate Word ... Spicer tallied 62 digs, including 22 against both the Javelinas and Cardinal, averaging 6.89 per set ... On the year, Spicer has tallied 368 digs, including 210 in conference play, averaging 5.11 per set and ranking second in the LSC.
Viktorija Jablonska, Texas Woman’s University, SR, Daugavpils, Latvia, Daugavpils 16 Secondary
Jablonska recorded a triple-double and a double-double to lead the Pioneers to two wins over the week. She posted 18 kills, 12 assists and 13 digs against Incarnate Word on Friday to record her fourth triple-double of the season. Jablonska followed that with 11 kills and 10 digs against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. She also posted a .323 hitting percentage and four total blocks. On the season she leads the team with 236 kills and .304 hitting percentage. Jablonska also has 135 assists, 141 digs and 42 total blocks.

Neal helped guide A&M-Commerce to a perfect 3-0 record this past week, leading the Lions to sweeps over Henderson State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Incarnate Word ... Neal finished with 119 assists, including 43 against the Lady Reddies and 41 against the Javelinas, averaging 13.22 per set ... As a team the Lions hit .249, including .301 against the Lady Reddies ... Neal also finished with 9 kills, 3 aces, 32 digs and a block on the week.
Sarah Siemens, Abilene Christian University, FR, Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS
Siemens helped the Wildcats produce one of its best offensive weeks, by tossing up an average of 12.91 assists per set as ACU went 2-1 against Dallas Baptist (L, 2-3), Eastern New Mexico (W, 3-0) and No. 8 West Texas A&M (W, 3-0). Siemens began the week with a season and career high 63 assists, which is the second-highest total this season in the Lone Star Conference, and then followed that effort with 36 and 43 assists, respectively, in the three-set wins over the Zias and Lady Buffs. ACU’s .400 attacking percentage (47-7-100) against the Zias was a season best by more than 70 points, while its .276 clip (51-14-134) against WT was its third highest of the season.

LSC SOCCER
Lone Star Conference games dominate the men’s and women’s schedules this week. West Texas A&M holds a narrow lead on the women’s side with 24 points, with Incarnate Word (21) and Angelo State (19) just behind them. WT plays at both UIW and ASU this week as all three teams strive for the top spot.

On the men’s side, UIW’s winning
streak remains at nine games after an idle week and Midwestern State ran its
unbeaten streak to six matches with a pair of wins.
LSC men’s soccer
teams are 35-8-5 overall this season. The squads are currently 5-3-1 combined

Had a team-high two goals and one assist in a 4-2 win at Ouachita Baptist last week. He tallied six shots (.333) and four on goal (.667) in the win. It was his first two goals of the season and his second assist on the year. It was his first multi-goal match of his career. In the match he scored the first two goals for the Buffs and assisted on Dominic Furness’ game winner in the second half. His score at the 0:25 mark in the match was the quickest goal of the season and one of the fastest in school history as the Buffs have two goals within the first 90 seconds of matches this season.
Len Smith, Midwestern State University, SO, Forward, Frisco, Texas, Wakeland HS
Smith tallied goals in each match to lead 24th-ranked Midwestern State to positive results over Houston-Victoria and Ouachita Baptist. The sophomore from Frisco hustled to knock in a rebound goal in the fourth minute of Friday’s win over Houston-Victoria then finished on a Ben Clarvis assist in the 52nd minute Sunday at Ouachita Baptist. Smith has now tallied goals in each of his last five outings and has accounted for seven goals in his last seven games.

Had his first start of the season earning his first win in the Buffs’ 4-2 win at Ouachita Baptist on Friday. He had two saves in the match. He has played in three matches this season with one start and has 0.1 shutouts.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Julie Coppedge, Abilene Christian University, SR, Midfield, Amarillo, Texas, Amarillo HS
Coppedge struck the game-winner in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Incarnate Word. Coppedge scored the goal in the 86th minute from about 18-yards back after a deflected corner kick was played back to her. Coppedge’s goal was her team-leading fourth of the year and 14th of her career. Coppedge also helped defensively this weekend as the Wildcats outshot their opposition 34-19 and didn’t allow more than one corner kick.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Yvette Bedoy, West Texas A&M University, JR, Garland, Texas, South Garland HS
Tallied two shutouts in the Buffs’ two key road wins at Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce last week helping WT regain sole possession of first place in the league standings with three matches remaining. She stopped seven shots recording her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season. She improved to 8-4-1 on the year in 13 matches and 1199:44 minutes of work for the year. She has a conference-best 80 saves and 165 for her career which is good for fourth-best in school history. Bedoy helped WT shutout a conference road weekend series for the first time since 2009.
