There are three weeks of Lone Star
Conference action remaining, with the top eight teams advancing to the LSC
Championship to be hosted by the No. 1 seed. Two teams - Angelo State and
Tarleton State - have secured a berth in the championship field. Matches to
watch this week include: West Texas A&M at ASU and WT at Tarleton.
LSC volleyball teams are 135-113 overall this season. The squads are currently
10-17 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 11-12
against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in the NCAA
South Central Region.

OFFENSIVE
Halie Harton, West Texas A&M University, JR, Roswell, NM, Goddard HS
Harton continued to shine offensively for the Lady Buffs as she registered 34 kills for an average of 3.40 per set to go along with five service aces, 26 digs and six total blocks to tally 42.5 points on the weekend. Harton registered a team high 17 kills on Friday night with a .324 attack percentage as the Lady Buffs topped rival Texas Woman’s in a huge Lone Star Conference win in four sets in Canyon.
Bethany Friesenhahn, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, JR, Poth, Texas, Poth HS
Friesenhahn had a career weekend with her first two double-doubles (both in kills and digs) of the season. On Friday, she had 13 kills in the five-set win over Midwestern State. She hit .320 in the win as the Javelinas avenged an earlier 5-set loss to the Mustangs. The middle blocker had her first double-double of the season with 10 digs. She performed even better in the team’s four-set win over Cameron. She tied her career-best with 16 kills while hitting for .625 Her defense didn’t lag in the performance as she recorded 19 digs which is the third highest total of her career. She added six blocks and a season-best three assists.
DEFENSIVE
Haley Bianco, Angelo State University, FR, Austin, Texas, Bowie HS
Bianco led Angelo State with 17 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Abilene Christian last Friday in the Belles’ lone match of the week. The freshman also had one kill and ended the match with a service ace to help ASU improve to 19-3 overall, 12-1 in LSC play and to 8-0 at home.
Kalinda Graves, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, Amarillo, Texas, Palo Duro HS
Graves has shifted from her role as a defensive specialist to libero over the last four matches. She began the weekend by tying her season-high with 17 digs against Midwestern State in five games. She followed that with 21 digs in four sets over Cameron which is the second most this season by a Kingsville player in a 4-set match.
SETTER
Lacy Hayes, West Texas A&M University, SR, Cypress, Texas, Cy-Fair
Hayes registered 121 assists for an average of 12.10 per set this past weekend to solidify herself as one of the top setters in the South Central Region. The Clemson transfer also registered five kills, five service aces, 28 digs and five block assists on the weekend. Hayes registered a double-double in two of No. 11 West Texas A&M’s matches at The Box this past week including a 49 assists and 11 dig performance on Friday night against Texas Woman’s on WT’s annual Dig Pink Night.
Sarah Fountain, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SO, Las Cruces, NM, Las Cruces HS
Fountain propelled the Javelinas to two of its best offensive performances of the season. Fountain had two of her top three performances of the weekend in leading the Javelinas to the sweep of Midwestern State and Cameron. She had 52 assists in the 5-set win over Midwestern State. She had 53 in the four-set win over Cameron which was a season-best in four sets by 10 assists. Fountain was unavailable to play in the first meeting with both Cameron and Midwestern State which resulted in Javelina losses.
