To date it has been a feast-or-famine kind of year for Texas A&M-Commerce's football team.

Picked to win the Lone Star Conference North Division in the preseason poll, the Lions have lost and won on alternate weekends through the first six ballgames heading into Saturday night's crossover contest at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

College Notebook 10.09.08 - Abilene Reporter News
How dominant has Abilene Christian University been during a 5-0 start to its season?

The Wildcats are averaging almost four times as many points as they have yielded, 54.0-13.8. They have scored at least 44 points in every game, have averaged 22.6 first downs a game, 540.4 total yards per contest and 8.9 yards per play. In fact, the ACU quick-strike offense has been so potent that the Wildcats are actually losing the ball-control battle. Opponents enjoy a 32:34-27:26 advantage in possession time.

The Angelo State University defense's reward for holding Eastern New Mexico to minus-19 yards rushing: an Abilene Christian team that averages 207 yards per game on the ground. And is averaging 54 points per game. And is ranked No. 3 in all of NCAA Division II by the American Football Coaches Association.

The Wildcats will easily be the Rams' toughest opponent of the season when the teams meet Saturday night in Abilene, at least until the Rams face No. 4 West Texas A&M in two weeks.

ACU's Scott sets sights on title, not individual award - Joey Richards - Abilene Reporter News
After all the records and awards Bernard Scott rolled up last year, there's still something the Abilene Christian University running back wants most of all -- a national championship.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior set several national, conference and ACU records in his first year with the Wildcats last year en route to finishing second for the Harlon Hill Award -- an award given to the best player in Division II football.
