Nicolai Ferrigno, Cameron University, FR, Hvidovre, Denmark

Ferrigno went undefeated on the week in both singles and doubles play. The freshman ended the week boasting a 6-0 record. The Dane started things off by easily handling Dallas Baptist’s Philip Allen 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 slot. Ferrigno and partner Thomas Peixoto picked up a doubles win over DBU as well, defeating their counterparts at the No. 1 position 8-3. The CU freshman then comfortably dismissed Midwestern State’s Colby Meeks 6-3, 6-3. He and Peixoto were once again victorious in doubles, easing past MSU’s No. 1 pair of Jarrod Liston and Tomas Grejtak in an 8-3 decision. Ferrigno’s final action of the week came against Arkansas-Ft. Smith. The Aggie standout dropped only two games in route to topping Martin Tabler, and in doubles he and Peixoto overcame their opponents 9-7.

WOMEN’S
Brittney Reed, Abilene Christian University, FR, Richland, Wash., Liberty Christian HS

Reed was one of several Wildcats to post a 4-0 weekend, but those combined victories against nationally ranked teams from Cal State L.A. and UC San Diego lifted her season singles record to 21-3 and doubles mark to 20-3. Reed won both her doubles matches in shutout fashion, first teaming up with Madelyn Walker, and the Laura Mongin at the No. 3 and 2 positions. In singles, she first beat #17 Cal State L.A. No. 3 player Leora Hemmerich, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0, and the following day at No. 4 she defeated Katie Mulloy, 6-3, 6-0. Reed has won her last four matches and all three of her losses were to DI opponents. She also has won 11 straight in doubles, with her last loss taking place on March 2 vs. Tarleton State.

COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce Lion football fans can get their first look at the 2012 Lion football team when A&M-Commerce hosts its annual Blue-Gold spring game on Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

The Lions have been taking full advantage of their allotted 15 spring practices, working through holes at a number of positions and giving a number of players some valuable experience. The highlight of the spring season is the football game, pitting the offense against the defense, working through game-specific situations and giving the players one last chance to put on the pads before reporting for the 2012 season in August.

Following the game, A&M-Commerce fans are invited to stick around and get to meet the members of the 2012 football team at the Lion Spring Cookout. Tickets for the cookout are $10 and are available for purchase beginning Saturday afternoon. For more information on the spring football game, as well as the cookout, contact the A&M-Commerce Athletic Department at (903) 886-5558.

The 2012 season is shaping up to be a challenging one for the Lions as A&M-Commerce has a handful of milestone games. The Lions will face a Division I FBS school for the first time in program history, facing UT-San Antonio at the Alamodome on Saturday, September 8. A&M-Commerce then returns to Cowboys Stadium for the 2012 Lone Star Football Festival on Friday, September 14, taking on reigning LSC Champion Midwestern State. Five home games highlight the schedule as well, beginning with the season-opener against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, September 1.
