UIW picks up Reagan ex Wright - Dan McCarney, San Antonio Express News

Former Reagan standout Marcus Wright said Wednesday he intends to play his final season of college football at the University of the Incarnate Word after his transfer from Georgia Tech to UTSA fell through.

“As of right now, I have a green light for UIW, so all arrows are pointed there,” Wright said via text message. “Everything is looking pretty good right now. (I am) pretty excited.”

UIW coach Larry Kennan said Wright has verbally accepted but must complete his enrollment.  “We're excited about the possibility,” Kennan said, “because we know what a great young man and a great player he is.”

ACU's Hach and Mongin collect weekly awards - LSC Office

MEN’S
Hans Hach, Abilene Christian University, SO, Culiacan, Mexico, Niagara Academy of Tennis
Hach won both his matches during last week’s 9-0 rout of St. Mary’s. Hach first teamed up with Alfredo Desiati at No. 2 doubles to defeat Nestor and Nicolas Moreno, 8-1, and then silenced regionally ranked Marcin Marczewski 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Hach is ACU’s No. 1 player in both singles and doubles with combined record of 36-4. He is ranked sixth nationally in singles with a 17-3 mark at the top line, and with Nick Plum comprises the No. 6 doubles team. Hach is 7-0 with Plum at No. 1, and also has won five matches with Guilherme Gesser, and four with Alfredo Desiati.

WOMEN’S

Mongin went 5-0 last week as a singles and doubles players against St. Mary’s and DI schools New Mexico State and UTEP. Mongin - the No. 2 ranked singles player in DII - began her week with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Rattler Valentine Lambrechts. Then against the Aggies, she teamed up with her sister at No. 2 doubles to beat Annemieke Witte and Denise Van Der Ben, 8-6, and later came back from a set down at No. 1 singles to beat Manon Sylvain 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Mongin kept her winning streaks alive Saturday at UTEP, first pairing with Emily Conrad at no. 3 to beat Dariya Abdrakhmanova and Anastasiya Sylenko, 8-1, and then topping Martina Trierweiler at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2. Mongin leads the Wildcats from the No. 1 line, where she is 12-1 this season and in the midst of a 10-match winning streak. She is equally potent in doubles as evident by her 14-1 record. Mongin is a perfect 7-0 in doubles this spring with her twin sister, Laura, and 4-0 with Brittney Reed.

MEN’S
Marcus Sanna, Texas A&M University - Commerce, FR, Sherman, Texas, Sherman HS
Sanna captured his first individual title, winning the 2012 California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate by shooting an even-par 142. Sanna posted a career-low with a 4-under 67 over the final 18 holes to seal the tournament, beating the second-place finisher by two strokes and leading A&M-Commerce to a second-place team showing. On the year, Sanna ranks second on the Lions in scoring average (76.21) with a pair of top-20 finishes.

WOMEN’S
Sharon Lau, Tarleton State University, SO, Malaysia
Lau led the TexAnns to a fifth place finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational this week after shooting a 149, which was good enough for second place overall. It marked the second top two finish for Lau this season and was just one stroke behind the individual leader.
