The last week of the 2012 regular season is here with the top eight Lone Star Conference teams advancing to the LSC Championship set for Nov. 15-17 at the No. 1 seed.  Angelo State tops the standings and with one more triumph clinches the No. 1 seed and right to host the championship tournament.  The following six teams - ASU, West Texas A&M, Texas Woman’s, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Kingsville - have secured a berth in the tournament.  The final two spots are up for grabs between Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian and Cameron.
    
LSC volleyball teams are 165-140 overall this season.  The squads are currently 10-17 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 14-13 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Viktorija Jablonska, Texas Woman’s University, SR, Daugavpils, Latvia, Daugavpils 16 Secondary

Jablonska led the team on offense with 38 kills and 46.5 points in three wins last week. She averaged 3.80 kills per set while posting a .403 hitting percentage. Jablonska also added 14 assists, five service aces, 13 digs and five total blocks. On the season she is a team-leader on offense with 336 kills and 392.0 points.

Stormi Lancaster, West Texas A&M University, SR, Mobeetie, Texas, Fort Elliott HS
Lancaster stepped up big this past week as the #10 Lady Buffs went 3-0 with sweeps against Dallas Baptist, Cameron and Midwestern State. The Mobeetie, Texas native registered 33 kills for an average of 3.67 per set to go along with 10 assists, one service ace, and nine block assists on the week. The senior outside also registered 24 digs for an average of 2.67 per set.

DEFENSIVE
Julisa Ocasio, Cameron University, SR, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico

Ocasio shattered a Cameron University match digs record with 44 against Eastern New Mexico. The previous record was 36 held by Ocasio twice previously this season and the original mark was set in 2003. This came one day after Ocasio crossed the 1,000 Cameron career dig mark against West Texas A&M. Over the last week she recorded 87 digs averaging 8.7 digs per set. Despite missing the first few weeks of the season she has 453 digs and is averaging 6.29 digs per set. Additionally, she is on pace to break both of Cameron’s season and career marks in digs per set. So far during the 2012 season she has passed 30 digs in seven matches. Ocasio also had seven assists and four aces.

Shelby Wilt, Angelo State University, SO, Dalhart, Texas, Dalhart HS
Wilt helped the Angelo State volleyball team limit Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Kingsville to a .155 combined hitting percentage in wins for the Belles. Wilt started her weekend with 18 digs against UIW before adding 21 more in a win over TAMUK. Wilt had 5.57 digs per set for the ASU defense.

SETTER
Lacy Hayes, West Texas A&M University, SR, Cypress, Texas, Cy-Fair HS

Hayes continued to shine as one of the top setters in the South Central Region this past week as the #10 Lady Buffs went 3-0 with sweeps of Dallas Baptist, Cameron and Midwestern State. The senior from Cypress, Texas tallied an impressive 135 assists in nine sets on the week for an average of 15.0 per set. Hayes had an incredible 53 assists on Halloween night as the Lady Buffs rolled Heartland Conference member Dallas Baptist.

Sarah Fountain, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SO, Las Cruces, NM, Las Cruces HS
Fountain had 42 assists in matches against Tarleton and St. Mary’s to start the week. She followed that with 40 in four sets against Angelo State. She had double-doubles in the two Lone Star matches with 13 digs against Tarleton and 16 versus Angelo. She added 16 kills on the week with a .326 hitting percentage.
