Just two weeks ago, the Buffaloes were 3-1 and leading ENMU 28-7 in the first half. That was then, this is now: 3-3 with Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Commerce and Angelo State looming the next three weeks. Making matters worse, starting QB Ethan Brinkley was knocked out of last week's game, and though he is listed in the two deep as the starter, Ben Arbuckle may getting his first collegiate start Saturday. He recovered from two early interceptions coming on in relief last week, helping the Buffs cut a 37 point deficit to just 10 before TAMK scored a late TD to ice the game. The Aggies are still looking for their first LSC win, having played a tough conference schedule to date, They have played tough early against Midwestern State and Angelo State last week, but could not hang for 60 minutes. They find themselves at or near the bottom of most statistical categories, with pass offense the exception. Shane Truelove is having a nice senior season, throwing for 221 yards per game with 8 total TDs.

The Lions have to be a little disappointed about last week's outcome. They seemed to have the game in hand, taking a 12 point lead with 5:29 to play, and a defense that had kept Midwestern State under control for most of the game. The Mustangs rallied, scoring two TDs on quick 75+ yard drives and stuffed the Lions offense, forcing a three and out, when the Lions had a chance to run out the clock with a couple of first downs, and then not allowing any last second heroics as time ran out. There's no time for feeling sorry for themselves, as the NCAA playoffs and a possible home game or two is a very attainable goal for TAMC, as long as they don't stumble along the way. The Mustangs are still looking for a win over an established LSC team, and they are getting closer. They trailed Midwestern State by just 6 points early in the fourth quarter and almost overcame a 21 point Tarleton State lead last week before falling 44-41. It's a good offense, no so much defense for WNMU. In 5 conference games Javia Hall leads the LSC with just over 300 yds per game and 16 TDs and WR Xavier Hall
averaging 119 receiving yards per game and 7 total TDs.

The Texans have been a mild surprise this year, handing Angelo it's worse loss of the season back in week 3. The offense has struggled running the ball, but Zed Woerner has been lights out at QB, with a 16-3 TD-Int ratio and 3 receivers in the LSC's top 10 statistically The defense is not giving up the same amount of points and yards as last year, but they have yet to face a top 4 LSC offense - until this week. They'll face the top LSC offense in yards gained, and rushing yards in ENMU. The Greyhounds are averaging 347 yards rushing and 455 total, but only 30 points a game. This is the hardest game to pick. It could go either way, but at the same time, it would not be surprising for a 20 point win for either team.

Somehow I had the Rams ranked too high. Somehow I missed this loss to Cameron earlier this year. Wait...what...Cameron??? Never mind, it must have just been a bad dream. Much like the Buffs, two weeks ago, the season's prospects for the Rams looked much different than they do now. Unlike WT, things are on the upswing for ASU, surprising TAMK two weeks ago and handling OPSU last week. The next two weeks will show us just how far the Rams have come in such a short time. Can they continue to win with a freshman QB leading an offense that is in the lower third of the LSC? The Mustangs have a good offense and a good defense and that's enough to win most weeks. It's also becoming apparent that they have "it" as well. What is "it"? I don't know how to describe it, but I know it when I see it. "It" is leading your team to last minute go ahead scoring drives in the final minutes to win games over good football teams - on the road to boot. But the Mustangs have also had a propensity of allowing teams to hang around too long, before pulling away in the second half to win games. That could catch up to them one of these weeks...especially in a trap game, a week after a big win...just sayin'

Well, no one said it would be easy, and having been around several LSC programs, Coach Carrigan knew that better than anyone. In LSC games, the Falcons are last in scoring offense and defense 13.5-49.5 and last in yards gained and second to last in yards allowed 292.8-472 and the toughest part of the LSC schedule still upcoming. It's unclear who the starting QB will be this week, but either Kameron Mathis of Caden Coots better be aware of the TAMK pass rush, which tallied 9 sacks last week, including 4 by the D2Football.com and LSC Defensive player of the week, Brandon Jones. The Javelinas finally got an LSC win, snapping a 22 game conference losing streak. It looked like they were going to do it emphatically, taking a 44-7 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. A desperate Buffalo offense and a few TAMK mistakes led to the lead shrinking to 44-34 late in the fourth and a "oh no, here we go again" feeling from more than a few Javelina fans. But the defense got a stop and the offense sealed the win with a 25 yd TD run. Now that they ended the losing streak, can they get a winning streak started?
