No. 13 Mustangs ground Falcons 76-21 on Homecoming

No. 13 Midwestern State didn't leave any suspense in another Homecoming blowout rolling UT Permian Basin 76-21 in front of 8,772 fans Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Mustangs' scoring output was the second most in school history falling just shy of the record mark of 82 set at Western New Mexico during the 2001 season.

It was also the second biggest Homecoming stuffing paling only to a 73-6 rout of Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 20, 2007. It's also MSU's eighth consecutive victory on Homecoming as the Mustangs improved to 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in league play.

MSU can clinch a share of its fourth Lone Star Conference championship with wins in the final two weeks beginning Saturday at Tarleton State and the following week in its regular season finale against Eastern New Mexico at Memorial Stadium...Complete Release


No. 8 Lions roll to 36-0 shutout of WT on Homecoming

In front of a Memorial Stadium-record crowd of 9,629 fans for Homecoming, the No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce football team shut out conference foe West Texas A&M 36-0 on Saturday. The Lions forced six turnovers, returning two interceptions for touchdowns.

The Lions shutout the Buffs for the first time since 1996 to run their record to 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Lone Star Conference. WT drops to 5-4 on the season and 4-3 in the LSC.

The Lions next head to Odessa to take on UT Permian Basin on Saturday. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium...Complete Release


Big fourth quarter leads to win, keeps title hopes alive for Tarleton

The Texans remain in control of their own destiny for a share of the Lone Star Conference championship after stifling Oklahoma Panhandle State in a 45-26 win Saturday afternoon.

Tarleton snapped a streak of 11 consecutive quarters without a rushing touchdown by getting one apiece from Joseph Sadler and Jabari Anderson in the fourth quarter before Basil Jackson's second pick six of the season capped off a 21-point fourth quarter and a 45-26 victory for the Texans.

With the win, Tarleton moves to 5-2 in league play with games against Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce left on the schedule. MSU and A&M-C sit atop the league standings with identical 5-1 records in Lone Star Conference play and 6-1 records overall...Complete Release


Lopez Carries Hogs Past ENMU for Fourth Straight Win

Quickly becoming a fan favorite, running back Luis Lopez continued to plow through opponents and finished with 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns as Texas A&M-Kingsville (6-3, 4-3 LSC) earned its fourth consecutive Lone Star Conference victory with a 41-28 win over Eastern New Mexico (5-4, 4-3 LSC) Saturday evening at Javelina Stadium.

The win marked the first four-game win streak since the 2010 season. Myles Carr finished 21-of-25 with three touchdowns and 256 yards. Anthony Autry finished with six receptions for 105 yards...Complete Release


Mustangs Ride Dominant Defense to Win Over Angelo State

The Western New Mexico football team benefited from a stingy defense all day long as they limited Angelo State to just 276 yards and forced four turnovers on their way to claiming a 20-14 Lone Star Conference victory Saturday afternoon.

The win for WNMU (3-6, 3-4 LSC) snaps a four-game slide and moves them within a game of being .500 in the conference standings.

The defense made big plays early top help give the Mustangs momentum and a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Following a three-and-out to start the contest, the WNMU offense went right to work. After a big offside penalty kept the drive alive, senior Javia Hal  found sophomore Henry Norman twice on the drive, with the last being a 19-yard strike for the touchdown and a 7-0 lead nearly five minutes into the game...Complete Release
