No. 6 Lions beat OPSU 35-13 for fifth straight win to open season
The No. 6 Texas A&M-Commerce football team raced out to a big lead and picked up its fifth straight win to start the season with a 35-13 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions are now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Lone Star Conference play, while OPSU is now 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.
A&M-Commerce will now prepare for a matchup of nationally-ranked unbeatens on October 8, hosting Midwestern State in the Division II National Game of the Week, which will be nationally televised on ESPN3...Complete Release
No. 10 Mustangs make stand, beat WNMU 43-22
No. 10 Midwestern State never trailed Saturday at Ben Altamirano Field rolling to a 43-22 win over Western New Mexico.
With the win, MSU improves to 4-0 for the third consecutive year and for the ninth time since the Bill Maskill era began in 2002.
The victory sets up a showdown with No. 6-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce next Saturday on the road. The Lions also improved to 4-0 with a 35-12 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday.

Resilient Hounds Rally to Reclaim Wagon Wheel
Facing a 28-7 deficit late in the first half, the Eastern New Mexico football team reached into its bag of tricks with a 41-yard flea flicker pass to Aaron Johnson. The play set up a touchdown, which allowed ENMU to enter halftime of Saturday night's Wagon Wheel Game against West Texas A&M down just 28-14. Eastern exploded for 25 second half points to earn a 39-30 win over the Buffaloes in Lone Star Conference action at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.
After ENMU (3-2; LSC 3-1) stopped WT (3-2; LSC 2-1) on a fourth-down try in the opening quarter, Kamal Cass went 38 yards on Eastern's first play from scrimmage to stake Eastern to a 7-0 lead. After the Buffaloes responded with a run from Devon Paye, Buffalo quarterback Ethan Brinkley responded masterfully with three touchdown drives, with tosses to Ja'Quarius Daniels, Junior Pomee, and Trent Canion to give WT the 28-7 lead. The flea flicker set up the Hounds touchdown before halftime.
The Hounds received the ball to open the second half and ran the ball on eight of the ensuing nine plays, with Gallagher scoring on a two-yard run. Tarleton led from start to finish in a dominating display against UT Permian Basin with a 48-20 win on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
The Texans (2-3, 2-1) were led by another strong performance from junior quarterback Zed Woerner, who put Tarleton up 7-0 early in the first quarter on a 42-yard touchdown pass to Del'Michael High. On the ensuing UTPB possession, it was Cody Burtscher, the Texans' leader in tackles, who came up with an interception and returned the ball all the way to the Falcons' 2-yard line, setting up Joseph Sadler on the following play to pound his way into the end zone for a quick 14-0 lead in the first three minutes in the game. Sadler finished with 45 yards on the ground.
After UTPB made it a 14-7 game, the Texans capped off a tone-setting first quarter on Basil Jackson's interception that was returned 41 yards for a touchdown as the clock ran out in the opening quarter for a 21-7 advantage...Complete Release
Rams Beat Texas A&M-Kingsville 22-21 on the Road
The Angelo State football team limited Texas A&M-Kingsville to just 262 total yards and just 76 rushing yards as ASU picked up its first Lone Star Conference victory with a 22-21 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday in Kingsville.
The Rams (2-3, 1-2 LSC) held the Javelinas (2-3, 0-3 LSC) to a season low 262 total yards and did not commit a turnover. ASU forced a turnover for the 10th straight game and it is the first time the Rams have won in Kingsville two consecutive times in program history.
Josh Stevens led the rushing attack with 85 yards on 22 carries while Carsen Cook added 21 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Cook threw for 131 yards in the air on 14-of-28 passing and one touchdown. Donovan Thompson caught five passes for 41 yards and Mark Munson caught his second touchdown pass. Willie Brown led the defense with 12 total tackles.
The Rams had built a 16-14 at halftime and maintained it until TAMUK's Myles Carr found Torrey Thomas on a two-yard pass. The Javelinas took a 21-16 lead with 8:34 to go in the fourth quarter...Complete Release
