Coward, No. 4 Mustangs do it again
It took some work, but No. 4-ranked Midwestern State once again found its comfort zone Saturday night against Angelo State at Memorial Stadium.
MSU's caped crusader otherwise known as Captain Comeback -- Quade Coward slipped out of whatever a modern day phone booth would be to deliver his fourth career game winning drive with under a minute to play to rescue the Mustangs for a 28-21 win to improve to 6-0.
Starting the drive on the MSU 23-yard line with just 46 seconds to go, Coward found a running mate connecting with true freshman Bryce Martinez for pickups of 22 and 37 yards on post routes to set the Mustangs up at Angelo State's 18-yard line.
Two plays later, the Cleburne native hit Jerryl Yarbrough on a slant route with 16 seconds to go for the winning score...Complete Release
No. 9 Lions earn four turnovers to push to 38-24 win at Western New Mexico
The No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce football team benefited from key turnovers as well as strong offensive performances on the way to a 38-24 win over Western New Mexico at Ben Altamirano Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions move to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Lone Star Conference with the win, while WNMU is now 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Defense shuts down Greyhounds as Texans win third straight
Since his induction press conference inside Wisdom Gym on December 3 last year, Todd Whitten's message about the first step in turning around the Texan Football program has been clear – stop the run.
The message was received loud and clear Saturday afternoon as the Texans went into the home of the nation's second-leading rushing unit and held the Greyhound option offense 100 yards below its season average on the ground en route to a 26-16 victory at Greyhound Stadium.
While the defense came out firing in the opening quarter by keeping the Greyhounds off the board, it allowed the Texan offense to find its rhythm and the rhythm started out wide with Jeff Thomas and Del'Michael High.
The Tarleton twosome each went over 100 yards individually on the afternoon and combined for 269 yards on 17 catches with all three of the Tarleton touchdowns. It is the second time that Tarleton has had two 100-yard receivers in a game this season, which is the first time Tarleton has accomplished such a feat in a single season since Jahmeel Hobson and Devin Guinn did it as a wide receiver duo in the 2009 campaign...Complete Release
Career Games for Arbuckle and Pome’e Spark Buffs to 42-14 Victory at Oklahoma Panhandle State
A career-high six passing touchdowns by West Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Ben Arbuckle and a career-best four receiving touchdowns for junior wide receiver Junior Pome'e as the Buffs rebounded nicely with a 42-14 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Buffs improved to 4-3 on the year and 3-2 in Lone Star Conference play, while OPSU fell to 1-6 and 0-5 in league play.
Arbuckle, making his first career start at WT, went 30 of 42 for 292 yards and six scores, while Pome'e had a career-best 124 yards on 11 catches and four scores. Javelinas Collect 490 Total Offensive Yards, Defense Tallies 11.0 TFL in 56-7 Win
Myles Carr threw for four touchdowns, Nick Pelrean and Luis Lopez collected two rushing touchdowns apiece and the defense finished with 11.0 tackles for a loss in Texas A&M-Kingsville's (4-3, 2-3 LSC) 56-7 victory over the UT Permian Basin (2-5, 0-5 LSC) Saturday evening at Javelina Stadium.
The 11,333 Javelina faithful that packed Kingsville on Homecoming Saturday witnessed a complete game offensively and defensively, highlighted by the defense collecting three fumbles and an interception (Forrest Jones). Jones added a forced fumble and fumble recovery, Tommy Chavez returned a fumble for 28 yards and Jovan Thomas tallied a sack and two tackles for a loss. Alex Kuyinu led all players with 2.5 TFLs.
The Javelinas scored on eight of their drives and went 9-of-13 on third downs and scored 21 points off turnovers.
