No. 7 Mustangs stun 4th-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce, 26-25
Seniors Quade Coward and Breion Evans connected for two touchdowns in the final 3:22 to lift No. 7-ranked Midwestern State to a 26-25 win over No. 4 Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Mustangs rolled to 5-0 with the victory taking over sole possession at the top of the Lone Star Conference with a 4-0 mark. A&M-Commerce dropped to 4-1 and 3-1.
For the fourth time this season, Midwestern did it in dramatic fashion after Texas A&M-Commerce stretched the lead to 25-13 with 5:29 to play on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Luis Perez to Darby Smith.

Greyhound Defense and Strand Lead Eastern past Falcons
A fumble forced by KeAndre Hall and recovered by Cory Harris at the two-yard line highlighted an outstanding performance by the Eastern New Mexico defense. That performance paired with 365 yards of total offense with three touchdowns from quarterback Wyatt Strand, led the Greyhounds to a 34-3 win over UT Permian Basin in Lone Star Conference action Saturday at Ratliff Stadium.
The Greyhound defense dominated the first half of play and held the Falcons (2-4; LSC 0-4) to just two first downs and one third down conversion on six tries. As a result, ENMU (4-2; LSC 4-1) held the ball for 21:41 of the opening 30 minutes. Tarleton downs Western New Mexico for second straight win
Tarleton survived a shootout against Western New Mexico to win 44-41 on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
The win gave Tarleton its second in a row for the first time since 2014 and moved the Texans to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the Lone Star Conference. Tarleton is in a two-way tie for third in the LSC standings.
The game started out exactly as Tarleton would have hoped with a 100-yard kickoff return by Bubba Tandy and a 68-yard touchdown pass from Zed Woerner to Jeff Thomas for a 14-0 lead with just 2:38 into the game. Thomas had a team-high 116 yards receiving on five catches, giving him two 100-yard games this season...Complete Release
Rams Roll to 31-9 Victory Against OPSU
Limiting Oklahoma Panhandle State to just nine points, the Angelo State football team notched back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 31-9 victory Saturday night at LeGrand Stadium at First Community Credit Union Field.
The Rams (3-3, 2-2 LSC) limited the Aggies to just 276 total yards of offense, including only 42 yards on the ground. The 42 rushing yards from OPSU were the fewest from an ASU opponent since Texas A&M-Commerce gained only 29 on November 2, 2014, and it is ninth time since Jeff Girsch took over as defensive coordinator that ASU has held a team to under 100 yards rushing.
Sophomore Markus Jones helped limit the rushing yards by recording four sacks for a loss of 27 yards on the night. The four sacks are a career-high for Jones and the second most in a single game by a single player in Division II this season. Javelinas Escape Canyon with 51-34 Victory
The first half was dominated by the Javelinas as Texas A&M-Kingsville (3-3, 1-3 LSC) clinched its first Lone Star Conference victory since Nov. 12, 2012 with a 51-34 win at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium over West Texas A&M (3-3, 2-2 LSC) Saturday evening.
Greg Pitre led all rushers with 130 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown – all in the first half. The success on the ground did not end there for the Hogs as Nick Pelrean finished with 109 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and Luis Lopez added 41 yards on just five attempts. Myles Carr was 10-of-19 for 155 yards and two touchdowns and Ty Chisum tossed a 23-yard beauty for six points to Stehly Reden, who finished with two catches for 74 yards and a TD.
Defensively, the Javelinas topped its season-high with 14 tackles for a loss along with nine sacks, five pass breakups, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. ZeMarcus Green led all A&M-Kingsville defenders with seven tackles but the highlight reel that is Brandon Jones put up a historic stat line with six total tackles, five TFLs for 26 yards, four sacks for 22 yards and two quarterback hurries. Braedon Robinson added two sacks. Kuziah Ferebee blocked a punt in the opening quarter and later in the contest, took an interception to the house for a 70-yard score.
