Spring Practice Update - SEO

2008 Savage Storm Spring Football

Correspondent Report

After two days of full pads and one day of half pads, a number of young players are showing their potential for the Storm.

Hunter Phelan, a true freshman from Ft. Smith, Arkansas has shown that he will be a force to deal with at SS, while Brandon Ford a rover from Dallas, Texas, has had a physical impact in live drills. Cedrick Robinson, transfer from Cisco JC and Mesquite Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas has brought strong coverage skills to the secondary.

On the offensive side of the ball true freshman Jonathan Larkin from Clarksville, Texas has made a nice transition from RB to WR, and with his 6’5, 220 lb frame, he could have a big year. At RB there is a heated battle between Marcus High (the leading returning rusher) from Hominy, Oklahoma, Baylon Laury, a transfer from Northern Iowa, Cordney Smith, transfer from Baylor and true freshman Daryl Carey from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. All are having good practices, and the Storms rushing attack should be markedly improved this fall.

Returnees doing well also

Defensive starters standing out are sophomore Brad Chesshir from Nashville, Arkansas who started as a true freshman at linebacker, Bernard Daniel, 1st Team All Conference FS from Carrollton, Texas and DT Dexter Elliot from Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Offensively, Justin Pitrucha, QB from Carrollton, Texas is back and showing the form that made him the Offensive Player of the year in 2006. Daniel Nichols, 1st Team All-Conference WR from Cooper, Texas is the leading WR and showing the skills that allowed him to lead the LSC North in receptions. TE Jarrod Temple from Carrollton, Texas is a solid performer in the both the run and pass game. OT Jarred Anderson, Allen, Texas, is anchoring a much improved offensive line.

The Savage Storm concludes their spring drills at 6pm, Thursday, April 17th, 2008.
